yeah, maybe a bit too much . An 18-lb dog should DEFINATELY not be getting 2 cups a day, unless they are very hard working dogs. 1 cup is quite a bit for her, and Beagles are prone to getting obese easily. Bear should get 2 cups a day, at most, maybe 1 1/2. You might want to lower Grizzley's feeding to 1 cup until he loses weight. Are your dogs very active? Like, how much off-leash running do you think they do every day? When my dog was competing in Flyball, and practicing every day, I had to feed him an extra cup of food because he was burning so many calories. I would feed them on the lower end of their weight range according to the bag, because like Tonya said, the manufacturers usually give you a higher amount of food than needed just to be safe and also so you use up more food

lol.. yeah, he is pretty big-boned for a BC though. I see a lot of Border Collies that just look like skin and bones naturally, and they're very healthy... Gonzo has never been that way but he's my cuddly chubby BC.. hehe. I pick him up all the time.. he jumps up into my arms and I hold him like a baby

I feed Natural Balance to my 4 dogs. They all eat once a day, at 6 pm.
Bitsy is 6 lbs. and eats 1/3 cup a day. She used to eat 1/2 cup, but she's a little chubby and on a diet.
Buster is also 6 lbs. and gets 1/2 cup, but usually only eats 1/3 cup.
Charlie is 7 lbs. and eats 1/2 cup.
Nacey is 13 lbs. and eats 3/4 cup.

Dale is 100 lbs. He gets fed twice a day. If he doesn't finish his food in the morning, he will eventually finish it before dinner time, when he gets fed again. He gets around 2 1/2- 3 cups at each serving...so like 5-6 cups a day, and he can be picky, so i usually mix the dry with a little canned and warm water, so that he eats most of it at each feeding...he eats Nutro Max Natural.

Sheba and Rocky get fed 2 times a day with Canidae.

Both dogs are "not" high in energy.
Sheba weighs 83 lbs. and gets about 3 cups
of kibble mix with a little bit of human food per day.
Rocky weighs 118 lbs and gets about 4 cups
per day mixed with a little human food.

The neighbors give them a buiscuit during the day.
