Poor you, and poor Kia. I hope the vets can find something simple and treatable wrong, and that Kia gets back to being her sweet, sweet self. Give her a good belly-skritch for me, okay? Tell her we all love her, and hope she's back to her self soon.

    Yesterday was a huge improvement.

She seemed more peppy to see me. When on our walk, I gave her simple commands, and when she listened I praised her.

I found a lot of sites that said a change in behavior can happen after a seizure. I don't think it's at a point where I need to medicate her. I decided to just be a little more patient with her since I'm aware of the change. If it gets to a point where she's totally unsociable around dogs and/or people, then a trip to the vet is what we'll do.

She was pretty vocal last night when dreaming, but seemed okay this morning.

I'm so glad Kia is doing better. I was wondering if the seizure may have frightened her. It's got to be scary when your mind does that to you.

I had a dog that had seizures and she would always be jumpy and peek around corners for days, like she was seeing something I couldn't and it frightened her.

Prayers for continued improvement for precious Kia!

Snoopy's behavior changed quite a bit after he started having the seizures - and the first few I did not even know he was actually having a seizure - it evidently happened when he was sleeping or I was not around. He didn't get more agressive but he acted confused, scared and whined ALOT! It took him a few days after taking phenobarbitol before he started to return to normal and even longer before he was his old self. The vet said they do not usually recommend medication unless they are having more than a couple a month or last a long time when they have them. Also the way the owner handles the seizure can decide whether medication is began or not. Hope whatever caused the problems goes away and stays away!

I'm sorry to hear about this strange behavior from Kia, but I'm also glad to hear that she seemed to be a little better at the end of this thread. When I read your first post, I was thinking about it and wondered how long has this been happening? Is this just a recent behavior? When did you first notice the change?

Also, with her not wanting to leave your parents house, perhaps it's because she hasn't had any seizures there (?) and is afraid to leave because maybe she associates them with where you live and she's afraid? Not sure if any of these thoughts are right, but they came to mind when reading your post.

Please don't take her behavior towards you personally (I know it's hard to do though!). Have you discussed this change in behavior with your vet to see if he/she had any ideas/suggestions as to what may have caused the change? That is very puzzling, and I sure hope that she is ok. Thoughts and prayers are coming your way and please keep us posted.
    Warmly,
    Karen
