I love pitties just as much as I love all other dogs (A lot!!! ) but because there are lots of people that don't like them, I think they deserve extra loving from those that do. ^_^

It's all a matter of upbringing. Bad parents, bad kids. Bad parents, bad pets.
    Hi slick,

Having raised two Cairn terriers, I don't find that to be all that accurate of a statement. Dogs are not kids. They were bred to perform certain functions and with that comes certain instincts. They can be the best trained and loved dogs in the world, but slap a rabbit in front of'em and watch how little they pay attention to you, as those instincts kick in to get the rabbit. Terriers were bred to be scrappy and not back down and I've seen some good trainers have no control when something triggered that instinct.

My two were about the friendliest you'd ever want to see with people, but boy have another dog rub'em the wrong way and look out, the fur's gonna fly. I'm the same person that raised 2 Collies to be unbeliveably friendly to every other critter and dog they meet. I don't think I was a good parent with one breed and a bad one with the other. I think to totally disregard breed instincts is to set yourself up for something bad happening. I take precautions with my Terriers around other dogs, that I don't have to with my Collies and I can only hope that people with Pit Bulls are being as responsible.

Awwww.....that's a shame that the woman felt that way about petting your dogs!
I have a 27lb. Lhasa Apso that sounds meaner.....a little aggression issue there.
I really, truly believe it just all depends on the dog. I think every single dog out there has their own personality traits about them! My hubby & I got the pleasure of petting 2 rotts & 2 pits a few years ago at a festival. They were sooooo friendly & gentle, beautiful dogs. There were people there, that would even cross the street to get away from this couple & their dogs. What a shame.....because they were some of the nicest dogs I have ever seen, including my own!
And to see them mistreated the way they are......makes me so sad!

    Its all a bad Rep.

I've never met a mean/out of control Pitt Bull. I've been bitten by one & had huge bruses, but he didn't mean to. He was upset I was trying to leave him & he grab my jacket & pulled me towards him & ended up catching my arm too. He didn't shake my arm, he let go asap & jumpped all over me trying to give me kisses.

My RB Max was part Pitt Bull, he didn't really look like one, but he had the locking jaws which was a lot of fun

I personally do not like small dogs, goldens & dalmations. But I like teacup dogs. I'm also not a huge fan on pure dogs, once again personal opinion, I love mutts, u never know what ur gonna get & I like that

Pit Bulls are my favorite breed. It all depends on how you raise and train a dog.

There's a myth that Pit Bulls have a locking jaw, which it's not true.

Whatever u want to call it.. U cannot open them with just ur hands, the jaw does not budge once closed, it doesn't even quiver when ur prying as hard as u can. Been there done that, couldn't get the tennis ball out.

It's called training your dog to 'drop it'.

I've opened a Pit Bull's mouth before with my hands....
But if a dog doesn't want to give you a ball, it won't. And that goes for any breed. (Of course, a tiny chihuahua's mouth is going to be easier than a Pit Bull's) Just because Max had a strong jaw dosn't mean he was part Pittie.

His dad was 1/2 pitt bull 1/2 rotti. His mom was a black lab cross (she was smaller then a lab, about the size of a cocker).

& its called playing with a dog. I would fight with him 7 when I would loose I told him to drop it & he would. My friends Rotti, hated giving up his toys, he would fight us, but we were able to pry his jaws open
