I think I tend to use black more but I just noticed that I have both a blue pen and a black pen right by my keyboard. Guess I'm a 50/50 kind of gal.

I must be tired. I noticed people talking about pens and was like...hmmm. I COMPLETELY missed the pen thing, I thought it was just color in general. Then I guess I change my vote to blue!

In my editing classes, we discussed how the color of ink affects the person reading the paper. Red is thought to be very strict (think: teacher's grading essays). Too often black blends in with the printout. On the other hand, blue is a bit too casual. So it's suggested to go with softer but more visible color (think purple, pink, etc.) It kind of "humanizes" the technicality.

But, that's not why I use pink. I just like the color!

(BTW, gel pens are my absolute favorite!)

As a retired printer, BLACK is the only pen to be used for handwriting. It's difficult to reproduce any other color. Old habits are hard to break and I still prefer black. Problem is, there aren't as many choices in pens with black ink.

I like black better too. We only have like one blue pen in our house so its normally not me who uses it.

Make mine Blue. I work as a paralegal and what many people do not realize is that you should always sign legal documents in BLUE ink. That way you will always know whether or not a document is the original as almost all photocopiers will copy the signature as BLACK. Because this is so deeply ingrained in me (I've worked in the legal profession for over 20 years) I always sign everything I do in BLUE ink - checks, contracts, notes, etc.

Thats very interesting! All therse years people have told me time and time again to sign formal thngs and abusines things in black. I really do hate black pens. I can;t see them against type face!

Also, I use a different color pen on every drawing I'm doing to mark the day's edits. That way I can keep track of when I made what change when. I'll make a note of the date somewhere on the page so that I know. I've got tons of blueprints with at least ten different colors! It has saved me quite a few times when the client says "I didn't make that change until after you made the other change" and I pull out the drawing and say "no, that can't be. Its shows here that green was last Tuesday, and the orange was the Wednesday before that" My clients all know this and fear my colored editing for the days trick!!! LOL
