Jonza, you just may have hit on something to help me!!

I regularly see a trail of ants coming from my neighbors yard and going to my trash can - and there is a "return" freeway of them going back next door.

I am going to try the "sugar" cure right now and I will let you know if it works.

I keep my trash cans next to my home and put everything in plastic bags. However, because my neighbors have access to the cans too - they have a tendency to just dump their trash in my cans without any wrapping.

    Grant's Ants traps

    Hi Kelly,
We live in the same neck of the woods and I find that something called Grant's Ants traps work great. I get them at Orchard. They are spikey things you are supposed to spike into the ground but I just lay them down inside and in a few hours the problem is gone. I had them in my car too!!! Put in a few Grant's Ants and poof!. They are enclosed and the kids don't seem to bother with them but if they do you can put them out of sight/reach. I also had ants coming up thru the drain and I put some white wine vinegar down the drain and it seemed to do the trick.
    Good luck!

Perhaps you could make a trail of sugar leading back into the other yard - then the next door neighbors could have their ants back!

I've read that Diamataceous earth is used in swimming pool filters and so you can find it at pool stores. (On the other hand, I can be gullible!)

    Good luck!

Oh, famous last words, but we've only had a mini-invasion so far this year. I sprayed like crazy with Orange Guard which is a pet safe bug spray. So far so good!

You have to get the kind that states "food grade" on it. DO NOT get the swimming pool kind cause this is NOT safe for animals or humans.

Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers

I'm not big on anything with more than 4 legs. But I'm allergic to ant bites, so i REALLY hate ants! And the ones we have in our yard right now are big enough to carry off a dog, should they decide they wanted to recruit. I keep expecting to hear a knock on our door, to find an ant wanting to speak to the landlord about the living conditions. I've sprayed the yard several times, and it seems like it just causes the ants a mild irritation, then proceeds to act like a steroid. They get bigger every time I spray, I swear! Now I go out there, they've got Casino Night going on, a disco ball and a work out room!
