Secretariat- stray in my neighborhood, I wans't allowed to have cats then (dad doesn't like them) but she slowly weaseled her way into my house That was 7 years ago.

Grem Lynne- best friend found her and two others abandoned in a box in the desert... friend kept her brother, found a home for her sister, I talked my dad into letting me keep her. That was four years ago.

Hollow and Sparky are father/daughter and boyfriend/girlfriend. I trapped them to get them fixed (strays in neighborhood). Hollow is friendly, Sparky is a hard stray. THat was a year ago that I traped them (I knew them for half a year before that) and I talked dad into letting me keep Hollow. I snuck Sparky in last January, she has been living in my room since and dad deosn't know! (I'm 21 in July, but living at home utnil I'm done college)

Kodak Moment the malamute/husky, Keesha Marie the cocker/field spaniel?, Fuji Film the chow/aussie?, Secretariat and Grem Lynne the unrelated brown tabby and white DSH, Hollow and Sparky, father/daughter black DSH, Cheyenne Autumn my pride and joy TB, Matastar's Morning Star my Rocky Mountain horse colt, and the birds!

The most reccent addition to my burgeoning familly has the most interesting story of them all. During an extremely stormy day while I was in a sulk about something, my brother told me to go to the garage, grudgingly I complied. There in my garage was a not-quite-adolescent kitten. He was a solid black shorthair and I was enchanted. Of course I new that I was not supposed to get anymore cats, but he wouldn't leave. not wanting, him to starve at my door step, I fed him. Now he really won't leave. Not that I would want him to. It was love at first sight.

Fun topic...fun to read your stories!
Got my oldest...Kitto..from a shelter (where I think we all ought to get our kittas) where she stuck her paws out and lured me to her cage. She was all about purring and loving and wooing me that day! She turned out to be very independent, but loves me dearly. The next one came when I told my mom that she had to get a cat when we got a house together (long story) and she has always loved persians soooo...she found a really wonderful breeder and got a darling buff colored pure-bred Persian. He turned out to have THE sweetest personality I have ever come across. The third kitta is also a pure-bred (remember when I said that I think we should all get our cats from shelters?Shame on me). Went to a cat show as my son had never been to one and anyone who loves cats ought to experience the strangeness of cat breeders at least once! Anyway, came across a kitten in a cage who stretched her lovely little paws out at me and insisted she be taken home. It is a major no-no to pet the cats at cat shows and I GOT HER OUT OF HER CAGE!!! Well, several dollars later, she came home to live with me...and now I have 3. I worry I will be an old lady someday with nothing but cat food cans and wime bottles in my trash!

Terra-chan came as a gift from my brother when I left home and moved to a new city. I had always had cats, but had to leave mine behind (she was very ill and would not have survived the trip). Terra has adapted very well to apartment living.
Misao was found by a friend at work. Hubby and I had recently decided to get a playmate for Terra and Misao basically fell in our lap. She required a lot of rehabilitation time (she had 5 different kinds of parasites, frostbite and was severly underweight). Misao is now a healthy happly 14lbs girl and on a diet.
I'm very surprised that we don't have more at this point with all the volunteer work I do at my local shelter, but there simply isn't room. Just wait until we get our house though

    Dear Bubblesppg,

What a great topic! We all seem to love talking about our fur-babies.

After YEARS of no-pet apartment living, I moved to a pet tolerant condo. I chose two male litter-mates to enrich my life. They were gray tabbies -- Perspicacity "Cassy" and Sassafras "Sassy". Unfortunately Sassy had a heart problem that wasn't noticed soon enough. He went to the rainbow bridge this February as a mere 19 month old. Cassy and I suffered. About this time my parents were having a lot of medical problems that were basically respitory. Their sweety-pie DLH's abundant fluffiness was adding to their problems and they were looking for a no-kill shelter for Olivia. I asked if she could come be a companion to Cassy and me and this solved both our home's problems.

The first couple weeks were a little challenging, but Cassy and Livvy are very zestful playmates. They play, eat, sleep, wrestle, and cuddle together, but he will not let her groom him. (This surprises me: does it mean he doesn't completely accept her yet?)

Thanks for letting me sound off about my favorite obsessions!

    Amber and the fur-kids!

Blueberry was Raspberry's sister from the liter. She was the first picked and she was very lonley the first night so we got the one that got along the most which was Raspberry. She was so sweet. It was unbelivable. She was hit by a car on Sept.28,1999 and was only 1 year old and a couple of months!
My cat Raspberry was adopted from a friend's cat who had babies. A liter of 4 cats. We adopted her at 6 weeks. She is still really cute!
Tabby's story is more terrifing. She was maybe 6 months old (Raspberry was 1 year old)
and was at the pound. She was hiding in the corner of her cage and was sleeping. Her appearence was not atrractive, looking really lazy. But my brother said What the Heck, Might as well Get Her. So we did cuz the little card said she was 4 months old and we belived it. So when we went into the room to visit with her. She cuddled with all of us. So we got her. My friend was with me and she let me bring her into the house. She went crazy and she jumped out of my arms into the house. Then she limped.
She kinda got along with Raspberry then. When we got to the Doctors office he said she was very pregnat and could have babies anytime, she had a fever from the pond that spread and she was having leg problems becuz her leg was hit by a car. She is 1 year old and 2 months now!
