I prefer dogs in shelters or other living arangements that are desperatly in need of a home. I love to rescue dogs.

But purbreds I would have to say:
Breed: Border Collie (Looks like lots of people choose this breed)
    Sex: Male
Color: Red/White or red merle or tri red
Name: I'd have to actually see & be with the pup before I could name it

    edited:
    to change the color
    I love odd coloring
    this pup is awesome:

Yeah.. which is usually the reason those wonderful dogs end up in shelters.. which is where I got my Border Collie... BC's are NOT meant for anyone.. They're like a big version of Parson/Jack Russell Terriers - FULL of energy!! Plus many have a great (but people that get a BC and are not familiar with the breed don't think so) herding instinct...which is what they were bred for.. I have a lot of experience with herding dogs... grew up with and still have a Sheltie, my cousin has a BC, I used to have a deaf Aussie/BC mix, and now I have a pure BC myself. They're great dogs (for the right owner).. and I hope to run a BC and Aussie rescue one day and do Agility, Herding, and Obedience with 'em. I can't see myself now without one of these great dogs! ^_^

I know, it is terrible. I can not even attempt to count the number of people I have talked out of getting a BC, JRT, husky &/or Aussie, they are some of the main breeds that are strongly not reccomended for beginers.

My next dog will most likely be a bc or a bc mix but it will come from a shelter or rescue, thats for sure!

My whole life there have only been 3 animals that came from breeders, they were all rats, (I did buy a few from pet stores too) but every rat & every other animal that I have ever owned, cared for or fostered has always been a rescued animal, weather from the shelter, organization or me or a friend finding the animal etc...

Di that was very well said. I know someone at the moment who "Needs" a Border for Flyball and they are to most unsuitable dogs for this person and i know what will happen to the dog. The poeple get dogs then dont train then and then the poor things get put outside in dog pens and that is where they stay.

BlueMoon that is great you have joined Pet Talk.

Yes indeed your Duke is lovely.

Don't be afraid to say hello or to come by and meet the dogs if you are in our area, and thanks again for the lovely compliments.

    Deb
pS I see you have FDX in your name, I used to play flyball too.
I will actualy be coming up to Batemanns Bay in September for a Flyball competition and then will be travelling around for a week or so, I would love to come by and meet you and your dogs.

Yes i am competiting with my Rotti X in Flyball still but she is slowly going into retirement, we need 200 more points for AFCh and then she will go as an emergency dog. I also have an 8 Month old Border Collie in training for Flyball, Obedience and we will start Herding quite soon. My BC keeps me quite busy.

Once again your dogs are beautiful.

    Got one more LOL
This pretty cutie reminds me of our past dog Honetta. She was brown doberman girl, with uncroped ears! She was so great dog, and she LOVED to run. Sometimes when we were playing ball and she was catching it, I thought she'll die from running, because she was tired but she ran anyway!it's hard to tell, LOL but she was my sweetie girl...(that pic I found in the ineternet).

    Breed - Doberman Pinscher
Color - brown (and that doggy need to be with natural ears!)
    Gender - possibly girl
    Name - dont know

Great! Look forward to meeting you. Here is my email for your records, send me a note when you get the dates you will be in the area. [email protected]

I was at Bateman's Bay recently, it is a nice drive over from the coast. In September I will be expecting a litter, Duke will be the sire.....so you can come and help socialize his puppies!
    See you then,
