Thread: Aneko had a seizure or a stroke last night :(

  1. #16
Oh Micki..........I just read this thread now. So sorry to hear the terrible news. I'll be praying that all goes well, and that whatever happens is the best in the interest of Aneko and yourself. Watching an animal suffer is one of the most difficult things one can witness. Take care.

Well, Dr. Pirkey wants to wait and see how she does over the next few days. She's been doing really good this afternoon. Michael is very upset and took the afternoon off work to go pick her up, see the vet, and spend the rest of the day with her. She's actually been better this afternoon than she’s been in weeks. She greeted me at the door with Mills & Ches when I got home today. That never happens anymore. What sucks is that for a while she was almost normal and happy, when she first started taking the meds.

The vet also said that she's probably ben having smaller seizures that we weren't aware of. I actually thought she was having one several months back. She kept bobbing her head up and down and running her tongue in and out. Last night she had her head back and was swaying like Stevie Wonder. I know it's not funny, but that's exactly what she look like. Only stiff and obviously in distress.

Dr. Pirkey said that her meds are maxed out, so we will just observe her for a bit and see what happens. Tomorrow she may be in what I call her "hypnotic state" again, where she sleeps and wanders the house. i just feel it's cruel in some ways to keep her around, but I want Michael to make the decision, not me. I know that when Chester & Millie's time comes that t will ultimately be my for me to decide. I want him to have that with Aneko.

Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts, and I'll let you know how things are going.

I'm very sorry that Aneko is in such distress at this stage of
her life. It's good that the Vet was able to give her more time
and that he can help her feel some better.

I know she is too loved to let her suffer. Feel better soon
    little Aneko.

Thanks for asking, Sandra. She's about the same. No more big seizures, but still not "with it". She didn't run from me yesterday when I went to put her eye ointment in, which is unusual. She doesn't mind the ointment, just me. lol.

Oh micki, I am so very sorry. This reminds me SO much of little Peka

When rescuing geriatric dogs, I guess that is something that we have to accept. We need to fill their life with love and comfort until God decides their souls are ready to move on.

Aneko wouldn't even be here right now if it weren't for your love and care. Thank you for everything you've done. When it is time for her to cross over to the Bridge, she will go knowing what love is and knowing what having a home is.

Peka was the first animal I've ever had to make the decision for. It wasn't easy at all. In fact, I had the phone in my hand ready to cancel the appointment. I kept thinking I could just give her another day, or another week, or another month .... But that wouldn't have been fair to her.

I know you will make the right decision and please know that I support you and am so grateful for the life that you have shown Aneko.

I am sorry I am just reading this now, but wanted to also send you some (((hugs))) as you go through this with precious Aneko. Just recently I enjoyed so much the picture you posted of her with her little tongue sticking out.

I remember Aly going through this with Peka. It is truly the heart wrenching part of loving a pet. Please know that we support you in anything that you may need to do in the future. You have been an excellent mommy to Aneko and given much love to this senior sweetie. (((more hugs)))

Sending prayers your way for Aneko. Hang in there and I hope she can pull through this episode. She kind of sounds like she is going through something Killian goes through when his liver is not working well. The toxins build up in his brain and he is "out of it". It is called hepatic encephalopathy.

Hugs to Aneko (and your family, too).

It's so odd, one moment she's afraid and lost and the next she's nearly normal Aneko. She's had no more seizures and seems almost back to "normal" which isn't normal, but the only way we've ever known her to be.

I will tell y'all that were the decision mine, she would probably be at the bridge already. I don't want to push Michael on this and have him feel I made the choice for him. They have a very special relationship and I don't want to ever make him feel like I pushed before he was ready. I know it won't be much longer. He's already talked about it a few times. He just has to get there.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words.
