Do you think I'd miss out on meeting you and those 2 cuties of yours?!?! No Way!!!

Not for sure if I can get that day off yet, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and bothering my boss like crazy. She's just going to have to understand that Katie and I have new friends to meet...hehehe

I've "erased" what was originally posted here -
it is (or was) "repeated" a few posts later (below)...

A further explanation is offered in an "edited" post where I
answered a question asked by Donna (moosmom).

    Sorry about this!

Mike and I discussed it and have decided that we will not be attending the gatherings this year. For as many times as we visit, it seems ridiculous to pay $55 to register the 11 dogs when some residents of the county only pay $15 a year and they live there. Phred mentioned rotating dogs, but, I'm not sure they would go for that and if we got "caught" doing that we don't want to end up with a fine.

Also, we both are working closely with the LaGrange County Animal Shelter in LaGrange, IN and need the time to devote to building kennels for the dogs so that they have better living conditions until the new shelter is built. We have been actively involved with coordinating transports as well and we are coordinating 2 for that weekend so that 7 dogs can have a chance at life. One of them is running on Sunday the 18th.

So, that's a longwinded way of saying, we won't be there, so the main course needs to be revised.

Sorry, but, we have discussed this many times and weighed the options and decided against it.

Sunday, April 18th, is Only a Week Away...

    ATTENSHUN Dawggies -
are your Hoomins *ready* for the
Findlay Bark Park Gathurin on the 18th of April??

PLEASE READ and UNDERSTAND the Following >>>

Last year the Hancock Park District was VERY Understanding
and Forgiving of our not having Dog Park PERMITS for all of
    our dogs when they visited...
Parks basically just "looked the other way" and didn't object to
a "few" dogs "visiting" once or twice.

Although several of us have tried,
    and a Very Cooperative Park Director has also tried;
it is very unlikely that any major changes in the established
Park Rules will be adopted this summer.
The Dog Park Rules are formulated after Public Hearings -
and rule changes will be a Long & Tedious procedure.

What this means is that EVERY DOG that enters the
Bark Park Enclosure MUST Be REGISTERED in advance.

HOW to REGISTER was covered in detail a few posts ago -
    PLEASE!!
Take the Time, Spend the $10, and REGISTER NOW!!

    And Please Understand -
it's not that the Park District doesn't want us
to come into their Park - they think it's GREAT that so many
folks travel to Findlay to enjoy the Dog Park!!

I'd also like to point out that we "out-of-towners" get off pretty "cheap"!
EVERY Homeowner (and probably Business Owners) HAVE to
PAY a Hancock County Park TAX every year!
It costs a Homeowner anywhere form $15 to $100 per year to support
and pay for the operation of the Park District!
And they PAY that Tax whether or not they step foot in a Park!

    **EDIT** to ADD >>
I wasn't very clear with that...
The TAX every Hancock County Resident pays yearly
does NOT include "Dog Park Privelages"!
The TAX is based on a home's "market value" -
    a $ 50,000 home pays ~ $15 Park TAX,
    a $100,000 home pays ~ $25 Park TAX,
    a $150,000 home pays ~ $38 Park TAX;

AND they ALSO PAY an ADDITIONAL $10 to use the Dog Park!

So our having to pay only $10 to use the Dog Park isn't such a bad deal!

We all hope that this doesn't discourage anyone from attending
the Pet Talk Gatherins at Findlay!
The 2-Leggers AND the 4-Leggers ALL have a GREAT TIME!!
    Don't miss out!

And if you're going to Bring a Friend WITH Dogs -
form up a "Family Group" and Register up to 3 or 4 dogs on one permit -
    just don't "tell" anyone!

    Any Questions or Concerns?
Post em or PM to "Cinder & Smoke" ...

There *IS* Time to Register - if you send it in NOW!
As long as the Park Office gets your $10 and the Application WITH
the Dog(s) Vet Records ON or before April 16 (a week from now) -
    there won't be any problems.

Cinder & Smokey want to see you ALL in a week!!

    /s/ Phred

    And a lil PS:
I've had a PM asking if "NO Dog" Visitors
(HOOMINs - who don't bring a K-9 Companion along with them)
    need to be "Registered"?

The Answer is NO - Humans withOUT a Dog -
do NOT need to "Register" to attend the Gatherin!

And if you're gonna Bring da KAT (or a Cone ) -
THEY get in for "free" too!
It's ONLY the K-9 / Dawggies that need to have a Permit!

Hmmmm... wonder if GOATS are allowed in...??

So sorry to hear you won't be coming Molly, Mike and Donna We'll really miss you all.

Since Mike and Molly won't be bringing their famous brats (darn!) I'll bring some hotdogs and buns unless anyone has any other suggestions. Just let me know!

I'm looking forward to next Sunday!!!

I'm sorry to hear you won't be coming Mike andMolly, but certainly understand the commitment to the shelter. Those dogs sure need you!! If your schedule fress up later inthe year and you want to come, I think you could get all the dogs registered for $40 (4 on each of 2 passes, $15 each, the remaining 3 on one for $10), and could actually bring 8 at a time...4 for each of you. That is the way I understand the rules anyway.

My mom had to get a second pass this year since she has 5 dogs, so it cost her $20. And she can only take all 5 if my dad is in town

We'll miss you too, Donna! Hope you can make it mater this year!

Anna, I'll bring some hot sausages to add to the hot dogs. And I'll still bring a cake.

I would like to know why you feel it necesary
to post the same post twice???
    *EDITED* Friday Morning 4/08/04 @ 11:45 AM

    +
    "Dad" did a *DUMB* stunt...

    I did a little research,
and found a "Feature" in the PT "Edit Options" that allows you
    to select 5, 10, 20, 30, or 40 POSTS to display on a page...

I've always had 20 Posts / page as my display format ...
so what I said just below here made some "sense" to me...

BUT - if you have selected 30 or 40 Posts / page -
my "repeating" what I originally had posted above
    (just "erased" by me) -
looked to many to be a rude and totally unnecessary "harping"
    of the subject!

    OOPS!!

Donna was quite right - I DIDN'T need to "repeat" myself!

    Ya learn sumpin Every Day!
    Sorry bout that!!

    Answer:

    I watch the "Views" counter on the Index pages;
and there weren't many "Views" of the post before it went
one page back from the current page.
And from past experience, some folks don't always read the
    "older" pages on a thread.

I also sent a "reminder PM" to the Dog Owners who expressed an interest
    in attending the Findlay Gatherings.
I truly Hope that no one takes offense to that PM "reminder" -
but I also don't want anyone that plans to attend on April 18 to
not know that the pre-registration (of Dogs) is now a requirement.

I'm Very Sorry if I've seemed to "badger" anyone -
    NOT my intent!

Just want to make sure everyone knows the "current scoop"!

    PS:
If anyone needs Travel Routings or Directions to Findlay -
post here or PM me at "Cinder & Smoke".

I'll bring potato salad if it is warm and cheesy potatoes if it is cold. Also some brownies. I have plates and napkins left from last time.

    Well, I'm a big IDIOT!!!

I just sent my application out today. I'm hoping I will still be able to come. Do you think I will be allowed? Ugh, I'm so mad at myself. I always put things off and then completely forget about it.
