aw - Phred - there's a commercial on tv that shows a dog tearing into all the presents - I didn't know it was your life story

Well, this is my last stop at Thursdays for today, I had to re-log in to the internet to see what the weather is like in Texas.

Slick - I'm headed off to Arlington to see my brother and my future sister-in-law. This will be the first time I've ever met her so it should be a lot of fun.

    Feliz Navidad,

my story isn't very good but i can't reallt htink of anything else that happened.
OK---a couple years ago my dad's feind got me and my brother and sister all scooters. and our landlord/nieghbor and his family came up to exchange gifts. and he had brought some palinka that he had made (very strong hungarian liquor) and after he'd had a few shots of that he decided that he was going to try out our scooters in the house....now he was addicted to the mexican wraps that my mom and i made so he had one of those and a glass of palinka in one hand and was trying to steer the scooter anround with the other hand. he got the hang of it after a while and was zooming around saying"suuuuuuper.....suuuuuuppper!"all night.

that's all. it was funny if you were there......
but i'll have a grande Gingerbread Latte for my troubles...

    i got a good one...

a couple of years ago, my next door naibours and I, we had our Christmas together. I was like 12 at the time.. Anywho, our parents all told us it was P.J day on Christmas morning, so what we did was get up at like 7 am, and run around the naibourhood in our pjs lmao.. We made up a song too,

    "P.J Day,
    Is the day,
    It's the Day,
    Of the P.J!!"

hahaha i still remeber it. Now every year my brothers and I run up the street in our PJ's and yell that stupid song lmao.. What have my parents done to me ..

Richard, a mug of hot chocolate would be lovely.

My Christmas story is both sad and happy. My dad passed away on December 9th in 1974. After that I had a hard time getting through December. Then my mom passed away on December 22nd in 1989. That made December an even harder time to get through.

Last week we put my sister in the hospital and over the weekend we were told had we not done that and she received treatment, she would probably have died. But she did go and she did receive treatment. And after all the tests she's had, at this point they are saying (Thank God) that it is not cancer. What they think it may be is her rheumatoid arthritis attacking her body. It may be bad, but it's treatable!

So there is my happy ending. My beloved sister will live to see another Christmas. We are still the four troublesome sisters! I've noticed that we sisters are able to say "I love you" more readily now. I am so thankful for that blessing in my life.

I am also thankful for my grown son and his lovely wife; my wonderful boyfriend who puts up with me on a daily basis, my five crazy furkids, my other two sisters and for my friends.

I hope you all have a very safe and happy Christmas.

Well, I guess I'll poke my head in again. It's almost 8pm here and I worked all day, then went over to feed and cuddle some cats (their Meowmie and Daddy are away), and now I've just come home to feed my furbabies and wrap some presents.

    but.....

I've just finished making a batch of baileys so I'll just put it in the fridge for tomorrow. I'm sure some would like it in their morning coffee.

Catland: Arlington???? You are only a couple hours drive from me. Too bad we couldn't meet up.

Robin: I've always wanted a sister. You're very lucky.

Richard: My Dad (RIP) used to take those candies as well, but he would at least take them out of his pocket. He'd save them up and somehow they always found their way into our Christmas stockings..

Have a wonderful evening people. If anybody is left out there who would like to pop in, I'll be here for a while. I loved reading your stories.

Yay! It's Christmas Day! Just got home from a yearly Xmas eve dinner at my best friend's house with all her lovely family (my 2nd family). Too much vino of course, but this family is the most awesome, closest, loving people. Anyway, I loved all your stories, and have been a bit weepy lately, remembering the good old days. So this week, I slapped myself silly and decided that even tho my dad isn't with us anymore, and we were always so lucky and blessed, I bought small gifts for some of the residents of the nursing home he was in, cause some of the people still there that I've met, have nobody and nothing. So I'm getting up early, taking Klo and giving out my gifts. how much more grateful can I be? I rescued Logan. I have a great bf who tolerates me on a daily basis, my loving mom, crazy brother and wonderful PT friends. plus a lot more than some people. Shame on me for complaining!
Hope you all have a very Merry!!!

I think it was over 20 yrs or so ago I was a single mom working two jobs and still had no money to spend. My mom was living with me too at that time. None of us had money so what we did, at my suggestion, was to cut out pictures from the ads and put them together for "what I wish I could get you". It ended up being hysterical when we each would see a picture - I gave my daughter a picture of a blond labbie puppy, my mom a picture of a limo and another of a bouquet of flowers. My daughter gave me a picture of Robert Redford. I gave my son... OH, you get the idea! We still love that year.. strange as it was

    Merry Christmas!

When my brothers and I were growing up, we would always get one of those Lifesaver books that they make at Christmas. I had kind of forgotten about them until I saw them at Walgreens this year. So, I got one for my mom and dad. It was kind of a sentimental thing but it made for some good memories. I'm thankful that, with them, I never had an unhappy Christmas. My dad told me the other day that he didn't know of another grown woman that loved Christmas more. I just love this time of year! So, with that, I'll have some coffee with some peppermint Schnapps.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Good Morning everyone and MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I woke up to a nice present Speckles left me on the living room floor

I've put the coffe pot on and there is Baileys in the fridge for the "adventurous" ones.

Laurie what a great story and K2Karen thanks for the slap in the face. I needed that because I've been feeling the same way. Like Richard says, check your tears and attitudes at the door and lets celebrate our friendship.

    Good morning,
I just woke up and the dogs are still snoring.
Raining outside, which I kind of like.
This would be good fireplace weather if I had
    a gas fireplace.
I have been craving for an eggnog, but I will
pass unless it has zero cholesterol and low calories. hehehe

    Happy safe Holiday everyone!

Good morning everyone and MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all be together this morning in some big old house with a huge fireplace? We could sit around in our jammies - have our hot drink (or cold) and tell our stories?

My brother is bringing his family here around noon - Sydney is almost three and Lindsey is now nine. I bought Sydney a train. It is really a cutie - the train goes over a dragon and through a whale's mouth. There are little chips that you clip on to the track and it triggers all kinds of sounds. It will stop for the cow crossing and you can hear the cows moo - it stops at the station and you can hear people talking.

Why am I going on about this stupid train? (notice how I have transferred the stupidity to the train from me).

I thought last night, Oh, I can put this together - why leave it for my brother. It took me over two hours to figure out how it went together. Once I realized I had the dragon backwards that was a big help in moving forward.

But you know trains - connect one piece of track and another loosens. Finally, well after midnight the train is together and works. I was exhausted. Who had the idea to buy this stupid train?

I kept saying to myself - this is for a small child - she will love it - and it is Christmas.

How I pray that this holy day can be peaceful - there will be no attacks anywhere and we can enjoy our families.

    Much love to you all....................

when i was very young , under 6 maybe, my parents told all 4 of us, santa only had so much room in the sleigh, we would get one big present ( and the rest would come from mom and dad,) so there would be room in the sleigh for all the other kids. the santas we saw at j.l. hudsons' department store in downtown detroit (malls weren't common then) and on the street corner ringing bells for the salvation army were helper santas, cause the real one was busy getting the packing organized for the big trip. i remember one early christmas morning being the first one up, going to my "side" of the tree and standing on the cold floor, barefoot, looking at a glass ornament. the sun found a chink in the drapes, and made the golden glass santa shine. i cannot remember what i got that year for sure (a barbie house?) but i remember the santa ornament glowing just for my eyes.
i'd like a glass of champaign please.
