When I took Tasha to obedience classes as a pup, it wasn't so much to learn obedience. She is highly intelligent, and would quickly learn whatever I asked. In fact very much impressed the teacher, who said she had never seen a dog catch on to some of the lessons so fast.(is obedience school on Jan really nessisary(sp)?) Its only basic comands..
But again, the main reason wasn't for the obedience lessons, it was for socialization and learning to do obedience around other dogs and distractions. It was really a bonding time as well. I think there is a lot of benefit to it, even if the dog already knows basic obedience.
