We've been to the white coatz!!

Turns out that Scott isn't too far off the mark when he calls Lilly "Wide Load" because since her last vet visit, last year, she has put on 12 pounds! She was 83 last time, and we were satified with that. She weighed in at 95 this morning, but he didn't lecture me, thank goodness. She eats the same thing as everyone else, the same amount too, but we're gonna have to work on getting some of that excess weight off of her! Otherwise, she's doing great. She does have a hot spot I discovered this morning, right at the base of her tail, but it isn't raw, just no hair. He gave her a shot, plus we're going to run her on a short course of Benadryl and Prednisone over the next couple of weeks.

Murphy had a recheck on her ears, and he removed the staples he had put in a few weeks ago to close up a pretty bad sore on her right ear. That place is still a bit raw, but other than a solution that I will wash it down with daily, she's ok. Bless her heart, she's lumpy, stiff with arthritis, deaf as a post, and has cataracts in both eyes, but her heart sounds good for an old lady. She has a touch of dementia too, and we talked about treating her for it, but we decided with all the stuff she's taking daily, we'll just watch her for a while, and if it gets worse, we'll try medication. She takes Glucosamin/Choindroitin (sp?), a hormone for her wetting problem (happens when she is sleeping), spends much of her time on antibiotics with those ears, plus has to take Rimadyl on occasion for her stiffness. Frankly, I just don't want to add anything else if I don't have to. Her dementia shows most in her restlessness, especially in the evenings and when Scott is away. She gets "lost" and will bark loudly from whatever room she has gone to until one of us can get to her, comfort her and then get her back with us. She's an old lady, will be 14 on February 14 . For her age, and for all she's been through with these ears, he thinks she's doing great.

I feel as if I need a nap and a massage now. I'm driving Scott's Expedition while my Jeep is in the shop. Lifting them in and out about killed my back. It's bad enough with the Jeep, but the Ford is much higher and I had to lift Murphy out too. She's no lightweight herself, 80 pounds this morning.

Anyway, Zipper and Mimi (cat) go on Tuesday for their checkups and hopefully Zip will have his teeth cleaned that day (bad, bad breath). Roger and Milly Cockatiel are going to the avian vet tomorrow to have their wings clipped. And to top it all off, Miss Honey threw up this morning and it had a pink look to it, like blood. He and I talked about that and I asked if I should bring her, but she had eaten her breakfast afterwards and drank water, and is now barking her head off at the yardman, so he said to just watch her. If she throws up again, he wants to check her to make sure she doesn't have some kind of obstruction in her throat.

Looks like my only one that doesn't have a reason to see the vet right now is Butter Cat! Thank goodness! He is all healed up since changing his food to Flint River Ranch. Thank goodness for small favors, huh?

That's my day!! Now I need to go earn a living so I can afford to pay all these vet bills!
