I'm no expert but I was talking to one of our Foster Meowmies and she said that she had a cat with really bad URI and she stayed up all night and for 20 min intervals she would take "Coyote" into the closed bathroom and run the hot water shower to get lots of steam and that seems to help the breathing.

Not sure if this would help but food for thought......

When my RB Pepper had a very bad URI, I had him sit in front of a vaporizer. I put him in his cat carrier and put the vaporizer close to him so the steam would go toward his nose. My vet also said that I could use "Little Noses" decongestant nose drops. These are the pediatic nose drops and you can buy this in any drug store. You only put one drop in each nostril up to 2 times a day I think. I sure hope that Boo feels better soon and that Bettie stays well too. Prayers and positive thoughts are on the way. Please take care.

Soledad, I have no idea of the noises, but Filou also did some pretty scary ones -sorry for being too plastic but it sounded as if he was strangled. It was his swollen throat.

As there is a bacteria infection in addition to the basical virus the antibiotica should help soon. The idea with the steam sounds helpful.

If he eats it's a good sign.

I keep my fingers crossed and hope it is ok without the X-rays.

I did something similar with Corkscrew when he had his URI. When I would take a shower I would bring him into the restroom with me so he could breath in some of the steam. It seemed to help him breathe a little easier. I hope that Boo feels better soon.

I'm so sorry to hear your kitties are sick! It must be horrible to hear them coughing and making these sounds!

I hope the antibiotics will help soon and they'll get better!

    A speedy recovery to them!

Well, I've just steamed the little guy. He seemed to like it but I'm not sure if it's made any difference. He's been coughing tonight pretty bad, but he recovers quickly afterwards and plays with Bettie and eats plenty. So, I'm still going to give this medication a chance. It's only been two days. It's still so hard to see him like this.

I think it can take a while to get rid of a nasty cold...

    Hope they're feeling better meanwhile!

Boo is doing better according to Sam. I was away for five days for a friend's wedding, but he says he hasn't been coughing the last few days. This is excellent news!!!
