    PICS!!!

So you know just how small these little guys are, here is a pic that shows one of the babies in comparison to a quarter.

I did a fur count and it looks like there will be 7 velveteens and 7 standards.

    Babies!!!

You can see the milk in their tums better in these pics.

Oh The Babbies are just darling! So cute!

Chloe looks like a great mommy!

OOC where are the little ones going when they are ready to leave Chloe?

If you're listening to this song
You may think the chords are going wrong
    But they're not
We just wrote it like that

When you're listening late at night
You may think the band are not quite right
But they are, they just play it like that

It doesn't really matter what chords I play
What words I say or time of day it is
As it's only a Northern song

It doesn't really matter what clothes I wear
Or how I fare or if my hair is brown
When it's only a Northern song

    If you think the harmony
Is a little dark and out of key
    You're correct, there's nobody there

And I told you there's no one there

    ~The Beatles

Well I will most likely keep a few for future breedings, in order to establish my own line of mink based rats. But the waiting list for this litter was pretty long, so most are going to other breeders in the NorthWest, or as pets to people on my waiting list.

However, it is going to be very tough to figure out who I am going to keep. I need to keep at least one buck and one doe, and hopefully I will get lucky and have a great curly coat, but the majority of the babies will lose their curl at around 4 weeks. There is one in the litter that has great curl to his whiskers, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't sell to Petshops and most of the babies born in my rattery are prereserved before being born. I won't breed unless there is a demand. But I am always willing to keep any rats that I cannot place, which is the responsible thing to do, because if you are not willing to make that commitment then you shouldn't be breeding.

LOL yes she is very tired. She looks really great though for having so many babies.

She also says that she thinks Chloetuple sounds perfect!

Are these little ones dumbos? I have a feeling you already answered this for me, but I can't remember.

What a good mother she is! It's great to see so many full baby tummies! How many males and how many females?

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

Yep all dumbos. I haven't counted sex yet, I will try to do that tomorrow. But 7 curlies, and 7 standard fur.

How can you tell the coat type when they're so young?

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

You just look at their whiskers, the ones that are velveteens will have crunchy whiskers and the regular ones will have straight whiskers.

    Day two

They are about 30 hours old now. Here are a few more pics

Here are the above three again.

I counted the sexes and we have 8 boys and 6 girls, 3 black eyed babies (tentative), 6 red (could be black too, we will see) and 5 pink eyed babies.

And here is one of the little boys. This pic is so funny, he looks as if he is dancing to the Y-M-C-A song.

If you look close you can see that his whiskers are curly.
