No news....and my ire is growing (not that it takes much with me, eh?).

We went to my vet on Saturday. He said infection, antibiotics, low level of energy. We went to the ER vets Saturday night...cause of the bleeding. They wrapped him, he hated it, I cut it off Sunday morning....bloody.

Sunday night, I had just cleaned him up, and he was sleeping in the bathroom- not moving a muscle! And, 45 mins later, blood. So, I called the clinic that did the sir jury, packed him up, and away we went. The clinic just wanted to observe him, and have the vet look at him...they didn't seem to think it was the level of activity so much as it was the inside swelling/bleeding (not internal) that just needed some place to go.

I am convinced that there was something amiss about the procedure. His privates have looked strange since the day I brought him home.

I just got off the phone with the woman vet. She said, "He looks pretty good". WHAT??? She said e-collar, low activity, this is 'normal' (really? I have had three vets tell me this is NOT normal). She said he isn't in pain anymore (Really? How do you know?), no more pain meds. So, I will go pick him up in a little bit.

    I am unhappy.

Can you ask to talk to Dr Auvil?
Might make You feel a lil better.

I would ASK for details of where & why he is bleeding - so long after the procedure. And what (if anything) they DID to stop it. I think you're entitled to that info!

If it helps - SmokeMutt looked rather "ruff" when he was returned from the Big Snip! Sort of like he'd sat on a Chain Saw was the way I described it on a post...

And he WAS a bit "sluggish" for a couple days.
With Binx loosing lil pieces in 3 places - he might be a bit more tender than a dog just having a neuter procedure and nothing else.

But I'd ask (make that demand) a full accounting of his overall condition -
and what you should expect for the next few days.

Prayers that you find him feeling *Better* than when you left him there this morning!

    Definately!!

Poor Binx! I feel so bad for the poor puppy. I used to think Cincy had it rough as a puppy, but compared to Binx, it is was a cake walk!!!

Sure hope you feel better soon, Binx We'll be thinking of you.

We are home, and CONE free. I just can't do that to him....he is so clutzy with it on, AND, it isn't his licking that is doing it!!!

Phred, he does look like a chain saw was taken to him...that is a really apt description. He was still bloody when we left the vets...geez, after being crated and coned for 20 hours...thought that would have made a difference, huh? Of course it doesn't, cause that isn't what his problem is. I have been as adamant with this doctor as I can. Dr. Auvil will be in tomorrow, and I will call to speak to him. The woman vets latest- maybe it is a coagulation problem connected to his mouth issues...

He drank a ton of water...and then some more to wash it down with. He hasn't eaten his food, but, it contains some meds...so, it will stay down all night.

He is sleeping ON the front door again. I have lined up a full time babysitter for him tomorrow...my neice, Ashley. I will pick her up at 8 am, and take her home after work. She has dogs, knows my cats, and will be responsible for Binx. Plus, she is going to Florida soon, so, this will be some extra money for her. I feel more comfortable knowing she will be with him all day.

I will report more as I can....keep the prayers coming for the little big boy.

    Home-again, home-again; and cone-FREE!
Oh Happie Daze! What more could a Dawggie want!?

As for "The woman vets latest -
'maybe it is a coagulation problem connected to his mouth issues'..."

    "Maybe..." ?? No wonder you're !
After spending a Whole Day in their care & custody -
one would *think* they might have taken the time to *spiff him up*
a bit before you picked him up.

    And a Private Duty Sitter!
    wow.
Binx ~ Show Ashley where the TREATs are kept -
soon as MawMee heads out for work!

So GLAD he's home! Hope the *leak* stops!

I've been there Johanna. It's no fun. Chester oozed for several days and it was very scary at first, but then my usual vet came back from vacation (stuff only happens when he's on vacation ), and he explained that sometimes this happens. Chester actually had an open cavity that needed to drain. Needless to say, I had a horrible time letting him out to potty, cause I couldn’t let any grass get inside the cavity and Chester's only about 6 inches from the ground, and of course a bandage was out of the question.
It was a horrible experience, and I hope nothing like that ever happens to him again. Poor Mr. Binx. Try to leave it alone as much as possible. Believe it or not, the more you "fiddle" with it the worse it can get. *sigh* So sorry you two are having to go through this.

    Oh no, poor Binxy boy

I'm so sorry to hear about this Johanna. I can't believe all the things your little big boy has had to go through.

I'm also glad that you have someone to watch him tomorrow while you are gone, what a super mommy you are!

I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

    Cataholic,

I am glad you are going to talk to another vet tomarrow.
Doesn't sound normal to me what is happening to Binx.
I always thought Neutering was a simple surgery?
(I guess complications can always arise)
We'll be waiting for more updates.

    Hugs to Mr. Binx

Johanna, we are definitely praying for Binx. I'm sure God is listening!! How's the big boy today? I hope you will get some answers from the vet you trust, and that Binx will be on the road to a quick recovery.

Poor Binx! Be a good boy at home and get lots of rest.

Good luck, Johanna, with your conversation with your regular vet. I hope that you get some answers.

I'm so sorry that you and Mr. Binx are having such a tough time. How very frustrating to see your big guy in such sad shape.

Paws and fingers crossed and prayers on the way for a safe and speedy recovery Mr. Binx.

It seems things seem less swollen and weepy today. I have my neice and her friend babysitting Binx (though I don't know who is babysitting them..he he) today. He ate all 3 cups of food at breakfast and lunch ...and thanks to Albea, I discovered the wonderful idea of putting a tshirt on him, backwards. I took that silly cone thing off, no way on that!

So, I hope he will be even better tonight, and tomorrow even still better, as I will leave him alone tomorrow....
