I didn't choose the breed for Reggie and Smokey. I was 2 when we got Smokey. My mom chose a poodle because they didn't shed. My parents got Reggie for free from a friend.....we weren't exactly looking for a second dog. But my parents had always loved schnauzers, so we ended up getting him. I love Reggie and Smokey to death, but I don't see myself getting another poodle or schnauzer.

All of my life, I'd also been begging for my own dog. I have always been obsessed with wolves, and that obsession turned me to dogs that look rather "wolf-like" (bushy tail, ears, etc.) My favorites were always german shepards and siberian huskies.

I've researched both breeds, and I'd still love to get a german shepard...but I think the siberian husky is better for me. I like their size (medium), temperament (usually get along well with other dogs, not a guard dog, playful, etc.), and I'm very drawn to their looks. I also like their coat, although it sheds, it's not really thick/long.

I wasn't exactly planning on getting a red husky though....I really wanted a black/white one...oh well, I love my red Nebo boy!

Digger- My dad has always loved labs, so he found Digger at a shelter.
Chubby- (Digger's son-I picked him from the litter)
Otis- We really wanted a small breed of dog, so we were looking in Dog Books after dog books, and we all loved the pug.
Prince- I had actually never looked at a Samoyed before, and I kinda wanted a German Shepherd, but I got him as a present, and what can I say? I LOVE HIM TO DEATH!

I grew up with an Alaskan Malmute Timber wolf cross. I had her from 5 years old until I was 21. She was the most beautiful dog that I have ever seen. She never growled or bit in all those years. She was sweet and gentle to all animals. If I could clone her I would. Anyways, because of her, I have always been obsessed with getting a dog like her. Dusty's eyes reminded me of Christy, so I got him. Roxy's gentle personality reminded me of Christy, so I got her. As for Teddy, I was repairing someone's phone lines that had pomeranians. They were so happy and playful and fluffy. I called the lady every few months for a year until she finally had a litter with a pup I liked.

    Hi Everyone,

I am new to this pet talk.

I grew up in a house full of animals. My parents took in every stray pet that came along. So i grew up with springer spanial, old english sheep dog, pomeranian, and a yorkie tarier.

When i moved out into a house of my own with my fiance it was quiet with out any pets. He grew up with Golden Retreivers. So for my birthday he got me a Golden retreiver puppie whom we named Bentley.

Last october we decided to get Bentley a friend to keep him company during the day while we were away at work. So we went back to the same breader and got a four month old puppie. Another Golden Retreiver, Tyler.

One reason we chose Golden Retreiver, is because of how good they are with people and with children. My fiance and i don't have human kids right now and if they become a thought in the future we wanted dogs that would be good companions for the kids and us.

The two of them are now inseperatable. We just love our boys!

    Thanks for reading.

WELCOME TO PET TALK! Bentley and Tyler are gorgeous! I am owned by 2 dogs. A 1 year old female golden retriever named Daisy (in my signature) and a 2 year old female, rough, sable and white collie named Molly(in my signature). I have pics posted all over this board under Daisy and Molly pictures. I love forward to seeing more pictures of your gorgeous golden!

My Puppy's name is Rusty. He is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. The reason we got a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is because my mom's friend had one, and the breed met all the things we wanted in a dog! We found a breeder near us with puppies and Rusty was the only one left available. I fell in love with him at first sight! Here is a picture of my baby. In this picture he is relaxing and this picture always makes me laugh! He is so funny!

ILoveMyGoldenBoys, your golden boys are just gorgeous! I love meeting and talking to people who share my love for goldens as I do! YES! My dogs do have doggie birthday partys! We invite some of their "friends" over, they open presents, and we get them a dog cake from a dog bakery near us. We have their birthdays at the same time, since they are exactly 1 year apart. LOL, and it is true..my dogs own me!

    GoldenRetrLuver,

That is just too funny!! It is funny how Pets give us so much joy!
Sometimes when i am talking to peole at work about my boys... they just don't understand! They look at me like I have three heads!
I myself don't throw birthday parties for my boys.... but they do get spoild alot. They love going to visit all there doggie friends! One of our friends has a 1 1/2 year old golden and she is just a bundle of energy... when ever i say "your girlfriend is comming" they run to the door and wait impatiently! it is funny how dogs have such an active social life! Non pet peole just don't know what they are missing!!!
