Sadie was 8 weeks when we got her and we drove about 1 1/2 hr to get Sadie and we stopped at my mom's on the way home. All Sadie wanted to do, was hide under my dad! She would lay under a towel or she would try to crawl under him. To this day she sleeps under the covers.

Cincy was only about 6 1/2 weeks when we got her, but we also drove about an hour or 1 1/2 to get her and again we stopped at my parents onthe way back. She was pretty mellow, but the poor girl had so much food inher little belly! I think being the runt of the litter, she wasn't getting her fair share of the food and when 1/2 of her bros and sis's went home the day before she finallt got the food bowl and didn't know when to stop! Stop pooped every hour on the hour for about the first day!! Sadie ignored all the puppies when we went to get her (She wanted a kitty) and was not at all sure what to make of a new pup in her territory and didn't want anything to do with her. I cried a lot the first night, sure we had made a HUGE mistake! Thankfully I was wrong, and from about day 2 on they have always been best buds! When they stay at my parents they even share the same kennel, by their choice.

Spot was 2 1/2 when I brought him home in March. He was about
4 hours away and Sadie, Cincy and my parents went with me. At the shleter and in the car the dogs checked each other out and were fine. Once we got home there was a little growling at first, but by the next day they were all playing and Sadie and Cincy have adopted just fine to having a an older, littler brother. I don't think we could have asked for 3 dogs to get along any better!

Leo was 8mos when I got him from the SPCA two years ago. He was definitely one happy pup. He just went tearing through the house like he owned the place. Leaped over furniture - jumped on the coffee table - over the arms of the sofa - anywhere he could get to. He also decided that every arm, sleeve, hand, finger he could get ahold of was his own personal chew toy. The play biting was sooo bad - I was black and blue for a month. It took us a while to redirect his playing to appropriate toys instead of me!!!

Penny Lane (we think about 6 or 7yrs) hid under the table or dug her nose into my body the first night. Her back legs shook for 2 days. She absolutely loved Leo though - followed him around constantly for the first few days. She is really coming out of her shell now - she is still timid (its only been a week) but she is getting much better.

i was going to ask this question myself

happy was the only puppy besides her merle sister to pay any attention to me whatsoever, she crawled on my lap, and gave me kisses, she still does this

misty when i was snuggling all the pups one at a time, misty fell asleep in my arms, when we left she kept trying to follow me, but she had to wait a few more weeks to come home, she was very happy to see me again!

those are the only 2 that belong to me, shadow is my dads, perky an Ripley are my moms, and i was not their was they got them

    Great thread!!!

Kito was our first doggie. We went about 3 hours to get him, and stopped to see my husband's brother on the way home. When the woman we got him from opened the door of her motor home (we met up with her at a show), he ran right out and over to us, like he knew. He was great in the car, and we took him all over to meet everyone that night. He never whined or cried, and just wanted to play from the first day we had him--he was 8 months old at the time.
Abbey was a bit different. We went to see her at the rescue, and the guy told us we could take her home that night, to see how she and Kito would get along. We weren't exactly prepared, but we took her anyway. That night was a little difficult. Kito was NOT a happy camper--all he wanted to do was bark at her. She slept in a crate that night, and the next day I got his rope toy out, they played tug of war, and have been friends since--as long as there aren't treats or bones involved, they get along perfectly.
Riley was totally unexpected. I went to the SPCA, and came home with a pup some woman was getting ready to drop off. We were moving in 4 days, and not really too keen to the idea of a pup--but I got him home (he cried and laid in my arms the whole way), and to the vet for a checkup. Kito got a little rough with him, but Abbey has been a lover since day 1. He was scared though--he hid under the desk, sat on my lap, and laid on the nightstand and desk to get away from the other two.

Max didn't care at all. We got him at a pet store for $20.00can. He was super playful the whole time we took him away, the drive home, & for days after. When we first got him all we did was play & hold him the whole time. My dad even took a few days off work to make sure Max was ok & bonding well.
