I am a Honda fan myself...but, I would suppose anything that got you around securely would work. I don't do any lemon law..but, maybe if you look around, you can find a consumer group in your area that can help?? I am glad they have you in a rental...and that your car is still under warranty. Wouldn't want to miss you next month!

I Love my Toyota! I've got a '96 Toyota Camery and I've loved it ever since I got it about 1 1/2 ago. I like Honda, but these days it seems like everybodies got one so I'm losing interest really quick. We also like Chevy's in our house as my husband drives a GMC Sierra (just like Chevy).

As for your car trouble, I'm sorry to hear that. I never did like Kia vehicles but that's just my opinion. Like I said before, I'm into Toyotas and Nissans and Chevy's and Pontiacs! I just went about 1 1/2 without my Toyota though because it was in the body shop for damage repairs from a flying tire (okay so a truck kicked it up into my hood). That stunk. We didn't get a rental until the weekend after it went in (on a Monday) and that was the day before I flew back to Ohio. The rental was a Ford so Brian refused to drive it except to take me up to Dallas to the airport. So, 2 of us went on 1 vehicle for a full week, and with our crazy schedules at that time, it was a disaster. I'm so glad to have it back, new hood and headlight fixture and all! So, enjoy your rental for now!

I got a call from the service department today saying my car will be ready either tomorrow ("in a perfect world" he said) or by Monday at the latest.

I told him I was thinking about trading my car in. He said (off the record) he never liked Kias. He also said that was the reason for the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty.

It is not feasible at this time to trade it in because I'm out of work and because they'd have to tack on $9,000 left to pay on the Kia loan to the new car loan. As long as it's fixed and runs, I'll be happy.

If the Kia has a cracked engine block, that should be reported to the NTSB. Cracked engine blocks in "young" cars are almost always due to bad heat treating/metallurgy and a whole bunch are made at once at a shop.

I have a 2003 Toyota Matrix, that I bought with 11 miles on it. I usually would not buy a brand new model/body type, but this car has a Celica engine and Toyotas are amazing. We had a 1986 minivan that we rolled in 2000 with 175K on it, and my 1991 Corolla had 191K when I sold it.

We also have a rocket: a 1995 Mitsubishi 3000 GT, red, of course!

    Smokey,

I never thought about reporting it to the NTSB. I'm going to check and see if they have a website. I never did ask the service mgr. how much the total bill was (just out of curiosity). I'm sure it was WAY expensive.
