    Did you know that's where the expression "the whole 9 yards" come from? Apparently, to make a "proper" kilt, one uses 9 whole yards of tartan. In the family pattern preferably. One of the most complicated cakes I every decorated was the year I decided to make his tartan on his birthday cake. Well, his last name (Sandilands) wasn't in the book of tartans, so I picked another pretty much at random, and went to work. Turns out, I had chosen the tartan from his mother's family, McRae! He was tickled pink!
