What words does your cats understand?

Storm knows the word treat so well that now I have to spell it out. I sometimes think that he also understands this. He also knows the words: no, down, birds, bedtime, and his name. He also has selective hearing.

Sunny knows the words: no, down, and he knows his name. He also has selective hearing. He knows the word treat only because he sees Storm responding to it.

Cirrus doesn't know his name yet and I'm not sure what else he knows but I think he'll learn in time.

Lut, kom is also the danish word for come.

Fister knows the words No, Out, Spider, Food, Bed and his name. He probably knows more, but he also has selective hearing. In fact, I think he's trying to teach us what he is saying! He's chatting away sometimes - mostly I think he's telling us which cat he has just seen in the yard.

Filou and Tigris do not know their name. How could they as they are called Bootsie, Tigerchen, little jewel and many other words. They can however perfectly understand feelings.

They love sweet words said to them in a soft voice. And understand harsh words that mean stop. There is a certain sound which Filou understands as "Come to Meowmie" and which Tigris ignores.

And of course there are times of the day. Me going to bed means treat time. Daddy lying down on the floor with the legs on the sofa after coming home means time to groom him.

There is a lot of very differentiated communication but whether it is words? I doubt.

My cats won't admit to knowing any English words. I suspect they understand NO and "get off the table" and their names, but won't fess up to it.

I am not sure how many words that they understang , but they only respond to Treats , Tuna , Chicken or New Toys , the other words like STOP , fighting , scratching , or excavating the litter box dont work at all!
