Puppies - When To Take Them Away From Mom

Here in Maryland at least in our county it is against the law to give them away before 8 weeks of age.They need that time with the mother and to wean and eat enough food on their own.They need the bonding and learning they get from their mom and litter mates even 10 weeks isn't a bad thing but 8 weeks is a fine time to give them away but no younger.

Most of the breeders I know will not let their pups go til 9 weeks and have had 3 dewormings and 2 sets of vacc. Good luck with your litter and check with your vet on what all you need to do. and toy poodles and thank goodness I don't live near you or I would have another addition.

I got Timber when she was 9 weeks and Leather when she was 5 weeks, and Samuri when he was 4 weeks, but 8 weeks is supposed to be the best time

I think between 6 and 8 weeks is a good time

Whoever sold you a puppy at 5 weeks old is NOT a reputable breeder or they would have known better.
