It sounds like the humans of Mitch play some great games with him, but, I must ask them: do you ever sing along with Mitch?

What a sound that must be!

Do you see little dots bouncing around when you and Mitch sing (assuming now that you do sing)?

There are cats here that eat cantaloupe and mushrooms, but apples? According to Patricia McConnell on NPR's "Calling All Pets," apples are supposed to be be repugnant to cats. Well, what does she know? (and yet, were it not for something I heard her say one day, our beloved Calico, Chicago, would undoubtedly be dead now, so please do not interpret the preceeding sentence as harsh criticizm of her).

Wow! What a coincidence! My wife just walked into the office that I share with the black cat, a couple dozen fish and two frogs, carrying a dish filled with apple slices! No lie! She really did.

And now I am eating those slices, even as I type, but the corp has been cut away so I have nothing to share with poor Mitch.

Now, I must take exception to a couple of statements: Mitch does not stand on his hind legs and beg "like a dog." No. Mitch stands on his hind legs as a cat would and with a sense of great, if perhaps sometimes absurd, dignity and authority, demands that you share the food with him that should rightfully be his, anyway. Nor is his breed like Golden Retrievers. His breed is all cat - all cat.

Please do not take offense at these gentle corrections. Mitch is a wonderful cat and your post on him was most enjoyable - in fact, I think you deserve a ribbon for it, a blue ribbon - which I am certain Mitch would soon claim.

Mitch, I got kind of sad when I saw your picture because you reminded me of a great Siamese I had all through growing up. I'm so glad you're COTD! Hope you got lots of extra special attention today

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

    Mitch

Dearest Mitch, I was intrigued by your photo--you look so much like my large, handsome boycat, Mau. If you are Tonkinese, then he is, too. We really aren't sure WHAT he is, but my husband says he must be part badger, because he has such strong neck muscles (and SUCH a strong burrowing instinct) that he can flip us right over in the middle of the night when he wants petties. He's a darling, and so are you, dear Mitch! Long life, health and happiness to you!
