I have to agree with Neko 1 , that is one classic photo!It is funny to see the cats all puffed up! That dog doesnt know how lucky he is , that there was a door saving him!

That is a great picture. I'm so glad you were there, and most importantly, had the camera handy. They do look like mini buffalo though.

And Pam, I think they do it to make themselves look bigger and more threatening - it's not just an instinct thing like goose bumps would be. There is usually hissing associated with the puffiness, and it's all meant to scare away the offender. If the hissing and puffiness don't work, the claws are the next things to come out.
