I really like my vet also, It is about 25 min away but worth it for me to know my animals are safe. They always make over the girls when I take them in. One time with my greyhound I called and asked them a question and they told me to bring her in right away, and I said aren't you busy? and they said yes but we want to see her. And they also did that for Keegan when she was spayed and I thought she had ruptured her stitches.
I agree that there are some good and not so good vets, just like people doctors, working in a hospital, I know some of the doctors, I wouldn't let touch my worst enemy, and there are others that I would.

Well it's good to know that there are good stories about vets and techs.

I'm very sensitive and all the recent vet and tech bashing just made me sad. I would absolutely hate to think that anyone coming into our office went home and complained about me or any of the girls. I have actually made some good friends with some of the clients- we exchange cards and e-mails...., we get presents and treats from many clients thanking us for caring for their pet.

I just didn't realize that so many people had such bad experiences at their vets.

WHY? WHY? WHY? Has an 8 year old been allowed to 'play kinda rough' with a cat!! Why hasn't it been explained to this child that cats are delicate animals and rough play isn't on? Oh I'm boiling here - once again I have to say - I'm so glad it's illegal here in England to have cats de-clawed.

I'm so glad you tore that guy off a strip Donna - I do hope he thought twice before going ahead.

Hearing all this bad stuff makes me feel like everyone dislikes taking their animals to the vets because of the vets and the techs. It makes me wonder how anyone could like me cause I'm a tech?
All you need to do is go read my post in Dog Health about our Murphy. I have nothing but good things to say about our vet and his staff!!!

    declawing no good!

MoosMom , you are 100 % right and that a lot of vets ask to have your cats declawed , as a matter of fact thing! I had Pouncer and Scrappy declawed , Poouncer was fine , but Mr . Scrappy had to stay 2 days because his claws kept bleeding , and in later life he had a bad time keeping himself groomed . I would never declaw an animal , NEVER!

The thought was in my mind that someday we might adopt a declawed cat, an adult. I guess you'd just have to be prepaired to deal with any and all complications in the furture do to the declawing. I never really knew it was so bad for them. It just sounds awful. And I will try to spread the information so others will know. I would think the vets would tell us these things and not just be in it for the money. I figured we would go adult since they may have a harder time finding homes, unlike cute little kitties. I wasn't sure you could train an adult cat to use a post and not the couch. Our Kelcee was trained with a squirt bottle to not go on the furniture, and she will be 15 in May. She is a really good cat. When I got her as a kitten I took my 2 wk vacatiion, and stayed home and trained her, she has been perfect ever since. Kelcee hates other cats, so this thought was just a thought. Hopefully Kelcee will be with us a good long time. She is my baby girl claws and all! She will NOT let me trim them. When she got her teeth cleaned they trimmed them and it was nice. The only thing with her claws is that she gets them hung up on things , like her 'blankie' and I can hear her walking on certain rugs, because they catch a bit. Just enough to make a sound.
