I think it is all a matter of being responsible if you have a dog, and training it properly and treating it well.
My friend has a rottie, and that dog is just a sweetheart. So gentle. But she took the time to make sure that he is well trained, and she has never been abusive or yell at him. It is a real shame that a few bad apples spoil it for all other dogs.

I'm sure you meant to say "don't think Angus would be a bad dog" right?
Oh, I'm sure he could be a bad dog...if I let him roam & get into it with others, he would. But needless to say I'm a responsible owner & don't let that happen! As long as he isn't around other dogs (besides ours), he is the most gentle & loving dog you could ever see! I personally think it's all in how you raise them, not saying there isn't dogs out there who have psycological (sp?) problems & would be not trustworthy at all. That's just how I feel anyway. If anyone thinks rottweilers are mean, I invite them to come to my house, after just a few minutes...I'm sure they'd be in love with my pussycat Angus

I don't know if I am reading your statment worng but Dobermans don't "turn" on humans. They can be made mean by mean owners. But def. don't go nuts and attack for no reason! There are still myths out there about the sweet Dobie that people who don't now the breed believe. There is the one that says that Dobermans brains still grow after there skull stops growing so Dobermans turn on their owners because their in pain form their brain being squished! This is not true at all!!!!

Sorry, I am very protetive of Dobermans; I grew up with them and they are my favorite breed. They have to be one of the most loyal and loving breeds out there. A lot like the pit bull is too!

I have a GSD and please, she has never done anything wrong. I did have a problem with a Great Dane once and was injured badly, but that does not mean I do not trust ALL Great Danes. Just that one in perticular. Lady will jump on visitors or lick them playfully, but never would she sick on them, unless of course they are robbers. My neighbors are afraid of my dog just because she is big. Come on. I have no idea how they thought that. Lady is as sweet as a poodle, never would she hurt anyone or she would end up with my old GD.

    Anna_66,
Whoops!!! I did mean that Angus wouldn't be a mean dog of course!!! I would never say that sweet, dear Angus would be a mean dog! You ARE a responsible owner, probably like all of us here on Pet Talk!

I do believe that all dogs just need responsible owners, and if they don't, they might turn on people. Dogs should not be treated like that, period.

    DOBIES ROCK!!!
    I am sorry ownerof3dogs!!!!
I did not mean it in that way. I was just making a statement that specific dog breeds should not have bad names just because of what one particular dog does.

I personally also think that Dobies are sweet, and loving dogs. Just like rotties, pitt bulls, etc.
I hope I made my statement clear!

Have a good day, and a Merry Christmas!!!
