It is with tears that I must tell you that Jack has gone over the rainbow bridge. (continued in 1st comment) He was with Karen yesterday, and his condition was worsening. He was treated overnight, and she (and I) both had extensive conversations with the vets at Blue Pearl regarding his condition. Jack had extensive wounds on the back of his body, and the wounds were unable to heal because his skin had deteriorated due to the malnutrition that occurred while he was lost. Despite antibiotics, the infections were worsening, and his skin was continuing to deteriorate. He needed surgery to treat the wounds, but there was not enough available skin to close the wounds after the surgery. The vet compared his skin condition to having severe burns over 50-60% of his body. The vet was very clear that she had conferred with every possible doctor regarding options for Jack, but none of them left him with a substantial chance of survival and all of them involved him suffering. Jack had been through so much, and the last thing anyone wanted was for him to suffer more. Jack was bathed in love and crossed over just a few minutes ago.

Dear little Jack. I am so sorry that your last days here on earth were not pleasant.

Now you will never be lost again - never go hungry and you are always surrounded by lots of love and never any pain.

Bless you Jack - you are very dear.

    RIP Jack
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Rest in peace, dearest Jack. You have gone through so much pain and suffering. Now you are whole and healthy again, being greeted and welcomed with so much joy at the Bridge. Some day, One Fine Day each time, you will greet all of us out on this plane who love you and grieve for you, to welcome us Home too.

    Love and tears,

Every morning, the first thing I did was to check Jack's page for an update; the most recent one was encouraging. When I read this morning, I sobbed tears of disbelief and pain; as I type this, I'm crying again. This was absolutely needless!

This morning, I was angry because I was in pain - angry not only at AA but at God, Whom I had been so certain would not return Jack to Karen only to take him back. This afternoon, I see more clearly: God was merciful in letting Jack come back to Karen long enough to know that Karen cares and loves him; long enough to let her say good-bye. His last days on Earth, while uncomfortable, were far, far better than if he'd not been found, had been left to languish, unnoticed, in that ceiling. God was merciful after all; our prayers for his return were answered. God has His own reasons, and our faith tells us to accept that.

Jack is now gloriously alive, absolutely healthy, and blissfully happy. One day, he *will* be reunited with Karen, and that reunion will be forever.

    R.I.P. Jack

What a beautiful kitty he was. He was amazing to go through what he did and still survive, though it wasn't for long, he definitely put up a good fight.

I am devastated that I didn't know about this story. I haven't been on Pet talk for around a year, and didn't even know this had happened. This is just such an awful tragedy. What an amazing cat Jack was to survive that long, and oh so hearbreaking to lose him after being re-united.
Rest peacefully Jack, your story has touched everyone who has read about you.
