Help me figure out my dog's breed.

She was a stray at 11 lbs. when we found her wondering on the highway.
She is nearing 1 year of age (best guess).

She is 85lbs and amazingly athletic.
Her favorite things to do are play ball, slide down my daughters slide, sleep on you, lick you and protect my daughter.

When she plays ball and the retrievers are in the way, she does on of two things. Jump over them or just run them down. No holds barred.
She is not mean, but protective.

Definitely Boxer, maybe something else, but at least half Boxer! Everything you described in terms of size and temperament are a match!

Doesn't your doggy resemble this doggy?

This is a Boxane, so says the Hybrid Dog site.

And this is a Boxer/Great Dane mix, like the one above.

    And now your doggy

What are you gonna name him

Her name is "Brownie". I originally thought part boxeSr and maybe some dane. But now I'm not sure. She doesn't really have big feeties nor is she tall. She is shorter than the black lab in the background. She is a quick study as well. My vet said maybe some St. Bernard. And numerous others think she has a fair bit of American Pit Terrier in her. I'm not sure however.

Maybe Boxer/Pit - her coat and height don't say Saint Bernard to me, even the "smooth coated" Saint Bernards have more fluff to them! The pittie would account for her being a little shorter and stockier than a Boxer ... in any case, she is a cutie!

    She a Lab/Pitbull Mix

    Hi Everyone,

I've worked with every type of dog you can imagine and I'm 100% sure that Brownie is a Lab Pitbull Mix. The reason I say Lab first is because she definitely has at least 55% Lab and 45% Pitbull. Here is some info on both.

The Labrador Retriever (also Labrador, or Lab for short) is one of several kinds of retriever, a type of gun dog. A breed characteristic is webbed paws for swimming, useful for the breed's original purpose of retrieving fishing nets. The Labrador is the most popular breed of dog by registered ownership in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States (since 1991). It is also one of the most popular assistance dog breeds in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States and many other countries, as well as being widely used by police and other official bodies for their detection and working abilities. Typically, Labradors are athletic and love to swim, play catch and retrieve games, are good with young children, elderly, and for protection.

The American pit bull terrier is the product of interbreeding between terriers and a breed of bulldogs to produce a dog that combined the gameness of the terrier with the strength and athleticism of the bulldog. These dogs were initially bred in England, Ireland, and Scotland, and arrived in the United States with immigrants from these countries. In the United States, these dogs were used as catch dogs for semi-wild cattle and hogs, to hunt, to drive livestock, and as family companions.

To see this breed just type in Lab Pitbull Mix on Google.
I hope this helps you and don't forget to support your local Humane Society.
