Stay safe and well wee ones. There's a pond at my work and I've seen hundreds born and disappear. Very high mortality rate. Doesn't make them any less cute and a feeling that new life is a treasure. I especially love the little yellow ones. The way the bob in the water is precious. xxxooo

Oh my! Thank you so much for sharing these photos! Mom doesn't mind you taking photos, huh? How wonderful!

Anyone know why some are yellow, some are . . . dusky? (Not sure how to describe the dark ones.) Is it male and female? Or something else?

They're so adorable. I too was wondering why some are yellow and some are darker in color. Maybe the yellow ones will turn into white ducks. I'm used to seeing Mallard ducks.

Oh they are just sooooo cute! I love the little dark on that's almost half yellow in the front. I believe the yellow will be white adults and the dark will be black and white. Hybrid ducks can have the coolest colors.

Cuteness OVERLOAD!!! I miss the college days where I used to go up to Mirror Lake and watch all the ducks swim around and the little babies just wobbling/swimming around. I'd love to see more pictures! Looks like Momma Duck doesn't mind!

It looks to me like momma duck is smiling! She looks very proud of her family! SOOOO CUTE!

Edited to add... when I worked in Westmont, we had a pair of geese who built a nest. One year they built it on a little "island" in the parking lot. The mother sat on that nest in the worst weather. The property manager put a barricade in the nearest parking spot so people's cars wouldn't scare her. We said they did the right thing putting their nest in a spot where it would be watched by a bunch of nurses every day She did fine and we got to see dad, mom (we named them Gander and Mother) and the little ones wandering around the parking lot and off to the retention pond. The following year they put their nest within a row of hedges at the side of the building. That was better because we could keep an eye on them through the window, and because they were a couple of feet away from the curb. The third year a new property manager came in and chased all the geese away. We missed them.
