I'm so sorry Dixie is not getting better, Dixie, you can bet there will be plenty of prayers, fingers, toes and paws crossed that the Vet finds what the problem is and will be able to cure her pronto.
In the meantime please give Dixie some hugs and kisses from this gang and to Dusty too for being so patient waiting for his wrestling partner.

The vet verified no broken bones. She has a major infection in her right front inside toe but it doesn't look like anything is lodged in it. There is a puss bubble that finally appeared and the vet was able to burst it. There was immediate relief but the inflamation is significant. She is running a slight fever so she is also on antibiotics.

The worst part of the ordeal for Dixie now is the Elizabethan Collar she has to wear so she won't lick the infected area. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for prayers.

Remember, Dixie-girl, that Elizabeth was a queen with red-gold hair, so wearing that collar means people should treat you like royalty!

(Hope your paw heals up quick! No fun for anybody when you guys can't wrassle!)

Oh Candy I'm sorry to hear about Dixie. I'm sure she'll get better what with you looking after her and all, and having Dusty bugging her to get better might help. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh I'm sorry to hear about Dixie!! That sound so painful! I wonder what could have caused it! There has to be *some* reason her paw was suddenly infected! Maybe she has something very tiny stuck in her paw? Reggie, Smokey, and Nebo send get-well wishes to Dixie.....and Nebo says he HATED the elizabethan collar too....and hopes Dixie doesn't have to wear it for *too* long!

Oh poor Dixie girl I am so sorry that she is feeling bad, but hope those antibiotics knock it out of her quick. Graham was swimming last summer and there must have been a chunk of wood with a nail sticking out of it, because he cried and came back to shore, where the bottom of his GOOD FOOT had a nail sized hole in it, and he was in pain and it was bleeding.

I went home and immediately flushed it out, clipped the hair well around it, and soaked it, but it was not enough. His foot and leg got so swollen and he ended up having a puss pocket, also. They prescribed antibiotics and foot soaks in novalsen several times per day. He eventually got better, but it was frustrating for him.

I do hope that the lovely Dixie recovers as quickly as possible, and she is feeling better from her pain

It's great to hear from you again, Candy. I miss you! Hugs to Dixie and to Dusty.

Dixie, I'm wondering how Dixie is doing? How is her foot? Is it healing and getting better? All these questions, lol She gets lots of hugs from all of us and of course sweet Dusty too.

    Update on Dixie's foot

The antibiotics are kicking in and the swelling has gone down some. Now we can see where something actually punctured her skin between the first and second inside toes of her right foot. Still don't know what but the mystery over what is wrong is finally answered.

She still is not applying any weight to the foot and absolutely hates being a cone head. She looks at me with those sad brown eyes and it's all I can do not to throw that thing in the garbage. I know it's for her best interest though so she has to wear it all the time except when she eats and goes out to potty. She won't do either of these things with it on. I guess she feels it is not dignified! LOL

We are taking Dusty to the dog park after work to play with a couple of his littermates. That should help wear him out a little tonight and tomorrow he has a play date with 4 other Goldens from the Pittsburgh Golden Retriever Club so I'm sure he will have fun tomorrow too! He has so much energy. I didn't realize how much until his momma got hurt. She must always be playing with him while I am at work when she's healthy!

Thanks again for your support and prayers! I miss posting as much as I did.

Dixie, it sounds like she is doing better, I know what you mean about that megaphone thing on her, Daisy hated that and would bump into everything with it, she did put the thing over her food bowl and eat, but was not a happy camper. LOL I hope by now Dixie is all better and walking on that paw.
