Don't want to change the subject - but. During one of these Thursday get-togethers, we were discussing regional food and drink. Since we can't search this forum, I don't know where it is

Those of us from Rhode Island spoke about Coffee Cabinets - and the origin of the name. I just got my latest issue of Rhode Island Monthly - and this is the reason they give -

The name comes from when milk shake mixers were bolted to the cabinet at drug store counters.
Now that is cleared up, we can get back to the cheesecakes! Richard, bring me a small piece of the chocolate and we can sit and watch the Red Sox - Oakland game on that big screen TV. Bottom of the third, Sox lead 1-0.

    Grace,

I dunno if we can allow Red Sox games in the bar the way they've been playing lately.......

Might be hazardous for the TV.

Right! I've also read that they were so named because the coffee syrup was kept in a wooden cabinet behind the counter.

On to cheesecake - one of my favorite subjects. Richard, do you think you can run over to Sam's and pick up one of those really big ones - precut and a sampler of several different kinds. I don't want to limit myself to only one variety today. If anybody wants - I have a really good and simple cheesecake recipe I'd be willing to share.

If it gets out of control, we can always switch stations. Orioles and Royals are in the 7th, Birds up 7-1. And there are several NL games going on.

That is, if our bar TV has Major League Baseball Extra Innings. If not, you can all come over to my house

As I remember, it was not even a week that had anything to do with coffee; maybe an ice cream one? In any case, thanks for the clarification...from one of the formerly living in Rhode Island people.
