Thread: Cat poops outside of box

  1. #16
Well Day #3 using his box!!! We moved my big stuff in today and Clyde has been very relaxed. He seems to be enjoying exploring furniture he hasn't seen in awhile. We think that he might be realizing this is his forever home. He's been all sprawled out today. I'm so glad that he's being a good boy.

I'm still working on treating that stupid chair. It would be so much easier if the bottom cushion came off so I could inject Anti-Icky poo in both sides. The top of fabric seems dry but I can still smell some urine. I'm going to try treating it again tomorrow according to instructions from AIP. I'm about ready to dump the whole bottle on the stupid chair and be done with it. I'm up for any suggestions. Throwing the chair out is not an option.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the pics. I'm glad to know that Clyde isn't the only one who runs out of his box when he poops. Sometimes he leaves a couple of pebbles himself. Silly cat!

We're going to sleep in the bed tonight so keep your fingers crossed that there are no accidents overnight. He hasn't had any when I've been sleeping on the couch downstairs. In fact he doesn't even get up to potty then.

I'm so glad that I found this site!

Thanks for another great update. I'd just keep on spraying the chair with enzyme cleaner because sometimes it takes several applications to get rid of urine smell. I wonder if you could have the chair steam cleaned. That might also help to get the smell out. Good luck.

I was going to have the chair professionally cleaned but I wanted to make sure I got the urine smell out first so that way the steam doesn't push it further into the chair. We'll see what happens. I'm really thinking that stress is what causes Clyde's accidents. It's weird though because he never peed in my apartment outside the box. It could be because I had wood floors & leather furniture and the new house has carpet & an upholstered chair.

Thanks for the support! It means a lot!!

I'm sure it was stress and reaction to changes - so glad things are looking better!

Sure you can't burn the chair?

I'm sure I can't...besides I really like that chair. Luckily its in a room that no one uses so hopefully it will continue to go unnoticed.

He did good over the weekend but did have an accident Sat evening under the desk...it sucks too because he used his box that morning to poop. It was a pretty loose stool so I think it might've happened because he couldn't get downstairs quick enough. The tips of his ears were pretty hot too. Don't know if that means anything?

I'm still sleeping on the couch with him because the bf was getting itchy again. Do you think that this is starting a bad habit? I would prefer it if we could all sleep together in the same bed. I feel bad making Clyde sleep by himself since he's alone while I'm at work. Plus I like sleeping with him too! We just brought over my bed this weekend so that we could sleep on that in another room too. I just hate to keep changing things on him. Any suggestions?

Oh and I just realized that I'm going to be dogsitting for my mom for a week in May. I'm supposed to stay at her house. I have no idea what Clyde is going to do without me for that long. I'm thinking about staying at each house every other night so everyone can spend time with me. Boy oh boy what have I gotten myself into?!
