My heart goes out to the family and their poor dog. That poor Jindo having to live with owners like that, I hope he doesnt get euthanized and instead gets put through obedience training.

Gini, I am so sorry this happened and one can only understand your feelings if they have been through this, please don't listen to the member who has no knowledge about what she is talking about concerning what happens here in our country, although she likes to criticize everything we say. Just ignore it as I do.
We have the same problem here with Pitbulls, now I'm not saying all Pitbulls are bad, please don't jump on me about that. What I am saying is the people who own them are not being responsible owners.
If one visits our animal control which we do, they have many, many pitbulls because the people just keep breeding them and then give a couple away to their friends and don't know what to do with the rest of them so they are in animal control waiting to die. In our neighborhood we have young men who do this, in between breeding them they fight them. It's not the Pitbull who is at fault, it's the people who own them and there should be laws stopping this kind of thing, but the so called responsible elected officials look the other way.
According to Animal control there is nothing they can do, when Daisy and Perry were attacked, the dog had to have at least 3 or 4 attacks of other dogs before they could do anything. In the meantime my dogs were in the hospital Perry with his fur ripped open and collapsed lungs and Daisy's shoulder ripped open, bone showing and needing surgery. My life has changed forever, I never feel my dogs are safe anymore, I worry constantly, I have to escort them outside, because I'm afraid they will get attacked again. Is this fair?
They returned the dogs to the owners on the very same day with a ticket. This happened in my own fenced backyard.
No, dogs are not bad, but the owners of these dogs do not care what happens to other people's dogs or people. Gini, I hope you do get that petition going and I hope they ban these dogs from your area until the Koreans take some responsibility regarding ownership of these dogs and the elected officials wake up to what is going on. You can bet they live in a safe area without these kinds of attack dogs.
Sorry for the long post, but I can understand how Gini feels, I have been there.

They returned the dogs to the owners on the very same day with a ticket. This happened in my own fenced backyard...OMG Jackie, I'm so sorry to hear about this!!!! It's absolutely horrible! Was this something that happened recently?
This may sound a little harsh, but I think officials need to take attacks like these more seriously and punish the people who can't responsibly own a "guardian" breed of dog. I think it's rediculous that they want people to wait until a dangerous dog attacks 3 or 4 times before anyone does anything? 1 attack is enough for me...and if it were on my property...I can't even imagine. I'm fuming at that thought.
This is rediculous!!!! If I'm living in a neighborhood where irresponsible people have vicious dogs...I wouldn't stand by and let them get away with it. I would expect people to take care of their animals and take responsibility of their animal's actions as I would with mine.It isn't fair that anyone should feel afraid for themselves and/or their pets and children in their own neighborhoods. Gini, I too hope you get that petition going. Actions like this need to be addressed before anyone or anything is seriously injured or killed. We will not stand for irresponsible ownership!!! Those people need to be punished!
I agree, it's not directly the dog's fault...but in fact it IS the owners that make a dog bad. It is sad that most "guardian" breeds of dog get a bad rap for it, but it is a fact that certain breeds are chosen by certain people because of their ability to be viscious. However, it's the owners that should be punished and not the dog.
Wolflady, this happened in June, we had been to the store and came back to find the pitbull had smashed through our fence and attacked both dogs. We found Daisy hiding in her doghouse and Perry on the bottom step barely breathing. Luckily the Pitbull got his chain caught on the broken fence and couldn't get loose to continue the attack.
Both Perry and Daisy are doing wonderful, Perry was distrustful of every little noise or anything but is doing well, completely recovered from his wounds, it took Daisy a lot longer to recover, she had surgery, but even her Vet is surprised at the recovery she is making and almost back to normal, she is doing really well.
Thanks for asking
Jackie

I'm so glad that both Perry and Daisy are doing well. What an awful experience for them and you!! Bless their little hearts! I'll be sure to keep you all in my prayers.
**hugs**

That was really unnecessary. It's not the Jindo's fault, it's the owners. And what's especially sad about this is that you're only caring so much because it was a yellow lab (obviously your favorite breed). ALL breeds are just as good and none are worth more than another, be it a pure-bred yellow lab or a "mutt".Originally posted by YellowLabLover
It was a yellow lab that got hurt- WWWWAAAAAAAAA!!
I hope that Jindo dog dies!

Just ignore it as I do.You don't have to refer to me as "the member who has no knowledge about what she is talking about", you're free to just call me "Ann". And JSYK, I've lived in the USA for over two years (in total that is, I've gone back and forth many times since you aren't allowed to be there for more than 6 months in total without a permit) so I do KNOW what I'm talking about. Just because I can see some faults in the way the USA works sometimes, unlike yourself, doesn't make me some horrible person like you seem to think. If you honestly are that offended by me, please do ignore me for REAL.

The dog needs to sent to a Jindo rescue to see if they can tame him. I was bitten by a pitt bull several times & he left welts & 2 quater sized bruses & there was no way, I was gonna let the shelter kill the dog, I was going to sudjest a rescue, after I cleaned up, but when I went to tell him this, he was already on the phone calling a rescue, I was sooo happy, because it wasn't the dogs fault I pissed him off, I was doing my job by trying to train him not to jump & to sit, stay, come & walk on a leash. The trainings not what pissed him off, it was that I had other dogs to train as well & when I was finished working with him, he knew I was going to go see another dog, so he would bite me & hold on, he was not a mean dog, he just wanted more love that I couldn't give to him.
But on the bright side, the rescue too him, & I helped 2 other dogs find great homes & I traine a black lab to stop jumping & bitting & I trained a Walker hound to walk without pulling.
I did all this in 2 weeks or 41 hours, I would have stayed longer but that shelter was too far from my home, its an hours drive.
but I loved the experience & the shelter wants me back, but I know I wont be able to. I might try to find a shelter out here in Ottawa that I can go to, to just train dogs
Yes, you do have a name and it's Ann, wow you have been here 2 years, I've been here 67 years, probably a little more experience in living here than you do. Do I come in here and trash Sweden? We respect the countries that everyone comes from, I have never heard an American on here trash anyone's country and we have the intelligence and respect not to do something like that.
Why don't you grow up and talk about things that you know about like animals and leave our country out of it unless you have something nice to say for a change. I really don't care to respond to your posts as you are immature and silly.
I'm not letting you run me out of PetTalk, unless Karen and Paul decide they want me to leave because of this post, or the members are tired of me and then I will leave, it will be up to them not you.
What I am tired of is your ridiculous trash talking. You have intelligence, that's for sure, use it or lose it.
Jackie
I find you really offensive sometimes. I complained about this too, and I am an American. Gini's comments were either poorly worded or ignorant. To state that a group of people all does the same thing is wrong, and offensive. We are in cyberspace, and are unaware of each other's races and ethnicities, I suggest we realise that and word our thoughts more wisely.
And just a word of advice, when you're the only superpower (making you the dominant country of the world), expect some criticism. We're not under Sweden's rule, but other countries are greatly effected by US decisions, and therefore have a right to state their cases.
Jackie Daisy I can honsetly say that I found this offensive. Why can't you say "the people who own these dogs" rather then generalize. I found nothing that Ann said in this post offensive in any way. Her post said nothing bad about america. It just said it's not nice to generalize, and I, as a proud American agree.until the Koreans take some responsibility regarding ownership of these dogs
