    The latest yard visitor...pics

The local raven population was making even more noise than usual this evening so I went to investigate what was causing the uproar.

    Ravens don't like eagles!

Eagles do like caribou scraps though, which is what I think attracted this guy. A friend gave me a bunch of fresh 'bou bones this afternoon. The eagle was hanging out in Tehya's pen watching her work on some ribs!

The dogs don't care that he's here; the cats aren't impressed. They aren't allowed in their cat run until the eagle has moved on!

You can...you just have to know where to look. I've only seen one since I've moved here.

Awesome pictures! I love birds of prey

    Holy Moly! He is stunning!!!

Would he brave the dogs to snag a piece of Tehya's leftovers?

    GORGEOUS!!!

My parents and brother just came back from an Alaskan + Canadian cruise and my brother got a few pictures of eagles up there. WOW! I cannot imagine seeing them in person, in normal, everyday life. WOW!! They're so impressive and symbolic to me.

Thanks for sharing 'him' with us!

How fun! We have bald eagles at a reservoir about an hour from here, but I have never seen one that close except for ones in zoos because of injuries.

We have a Hawk or a Falcon pair that nests every year in a high tree in
the woods across the road from the Ranch.
I've watched them *hunt* smaller birds - they'll circle high above - then
*swoop* down and make a mid-air *GRAB* of the unlucky meal.

If The Birds were hunting while Smokey and Bowser were out; the Mutts
would start looking over their shoulders, then SIT and stare up for a minute ...
then both would Beat Feet for the porch and *knock* to come in!
Cinder never seemed too concerned - but would join the other two on the porch.

Now with lil Heidi (MiniMutt) here - I guess I really need to worry about our
    big feathered neighbors.
