    L, please
I'm sometimes asked "Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer: "I am working at the roots." -George T. Angell, reformer (1823-1909)

Here you go. Chris, it was N you guessed the last time. Was that a wee typo?

    I a- a -reat -elie-er in l---, an- I -in- the har-er I -or-,
    the -ore I ha-e o- it.
    ~ Tho-as -e--erson

    Letters remaining:
BCD FG JK M PQ UVWXYZ

    Randi - E(11)+A(7)+T(5) = 41
    Vinjashira - S(2)=H(5) = 7
    Pitc – O(5)+R(7) = 17
    ChrisH - N(4) = 4
    Karen - I(8) = 16
    AmberLee - L(2) = 2

Randi's guess was correct and she has agreed to host the next puzzle. The solution was -

I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it."
    ~ Thomas Jefferson

    Thanks for playing.

Yes, you are right. It is rather an odd phrasing. I sometimes wonder how accurate these quotes are, since you can often see several versions of the same quote, all phrased slightly differently.

I'm sorry that one was confusing for you. Did you understand the general gist that the harder you work, the more luck seems to come your way? Or to put it another way, you create your own opportunies through hard work.
