GSDs - fantastic dogs but not so good looking as collies.

I happen to think GSD's are the most beautiful breed there is. I find them 100% better looking then collies, but that's just my opinion.

I think the German Shephard is the breed to get. as long s you don't mind the hair. Also As puppies they tend to be a little destructive but most pups are. they are great dogs always loving. and they love to take care of you.

I like Collies better than German Shepherds. My best friend just got a new Collie pup on Tues. 1/16/01 and named him Cole. Have you ever seen the commercial where Andy Griffith is sitting in his rocking chair by the barn and he pulls out a bag of dog food and and calls his dog and a Collie comes racing out of the field to come eat? The dog in that commercial is Cole's dad! He got neutered right after he sired this litter. He's a champion show dog. This commercial was a couple years ago. Does anyone know that dog's show name? They are going to find out, but I really want to know.

Of corse get a german shep.!!!! they are so beautiful!!!! i want a pure breed gsd so bad!!! and if you are going to move in an apartment i think a GSD would be the best with no yard... but really both or the breeds need a fenced in yard, so u would be better off geting a small dog or a collie mix or shepherd mix with small dogs.

I would go for a collie, we had one growing up as kids and they are the greatest, loveable, loyal large dog I know. My parents have a German Shep. right now and she was a sweet heart with my hounds she wouldn't harm a flea, but in her older age she is getting a little snappy and I can't trust her alone with them, I also can't trust her with my cat (or rabbits, we had a terrible mishap with her and my rabbits). If your living in an apt. I do think that little dogs would be better, but do your research some little dogs would not be happy in an apt. either. And I wouldn't get a sheltie instead of the collie just because it looks like a smaller version, you would be disapointed they are not anywhere near as nice of a dog as a collie is. (personal oppinion, I don't want anyone mad at me :0) My mother has had 6 of them and they are not my favorite breed)
But it is totally up to you, if you like the big breeds, with daily walks Im sure they would be just fine :0)
