    Balto,

I looked at your photographs on webshots. Not only is your dog absolutely beautiful but also the quality of your photographs is stunning. How do you get Jesse to pose like that?

Thanks, Shai's Mom! Cody is a Husky/Shep, so a little of Jesse does come through! It is hard sometimes to keep everyone and their kids straight, especially before we all started posting pics, of the dogs at least. I think it's time we take the final plunge, and start posting pics of our furkids AND ourselves! Might help to keep everyone "straight" in our heads!!

Dear Balto, I came rather close to buying a Husky from a breeder.I decided not, though, even though I love them so much. They are truely beautiful
dogs.Balto,I have a few questions to ask you about this breed,

    1.Can they turn on you?

    2. Are they effectionate, or are they to independent for that?

    3.Are they friendly?

    4.Do they ever run away?

Thank you so much for any help!

The pics are great! Beautiful dog!

To answer TollSettFK: I had a Husky/Shepherd and he was my rock. (pic here http://icyhott99.tripod.com/myfurryfamily/ )

He was a little aggressive when he was young, but all he needed was training and he did fine. He was a 'velcro' dog and wasn't happy unless he was touching me. He was extremely devoted and an excellent guard dog. He once scared away an intruder who was at my window one night. He didn't come back! He did get out a couple of times and went for a stroll, but overall he was a wonderful dog!

    to TollSettFK:

    1. ANY dog (believe it or not, your sweet little dog CAN turn on you at any moment) can turn on you, but it is doubtful if you treat it right.

    2. Siberian Huskies aren't that independant b/c of their natural ability, sled racing, is focused around so many other dogs and people.

    3. Siberian Huskies are very friendly, they love children.

    4. It's not the breed that tells if they will run away or not, its the individual dog.

    Just thought I would help.
By the way, Jesse is beautiful!

Thanx Guys... I must make more of an effort to stay in touch, only with two jobs on the go and Jesse being so demanding there is little time left for me!

Anyway in answer to TollSettFK... Any dog is capable of turning, but with respect and trust on both sides, you stand less of a chance of that happening.

They can be very affectionate and want to play all the time, but they also still like their own space.

They are very friendly and to trusting, sometimes even to people they don't know, any Husky book will tell you that they have no guarding instincts, but I don't think this is necessarily true as Jesse has shown very guarding tendencys towards myself and my husband and also to his home and 3 cats that he shares it with.

Also in the books it tells you never to let your Husky off its lead as he will keep on running, but again with Jesse this is not true, we trust and respect him to come back when we let him off, (But secretly I think he is frightened of losing us really, thats why he never goes to far from us!)

To be onest with you this is our first Husky, and together we have learnt so much from him, and hopefully he has learnt from us to. Personally we would never have any other breed of dog.

    Take Care All,
    Love Jackie & Jesse. xxx
