    We have TONS up here. I think they're adorable too - would be afraid to be in one though. They are great on gas as well, my friends Mom has one.

    I don't think they are intended for highway driving.....

    It's not a very sturdy vehicle either. There are lots of them in Ontario and apparently they flip very easily and you are pretty much guaranteed to die if you get in an accident.

    Outside large cities, there is quite a distance to commute on major highways, and I think these Smart Cars are best used within the city.

    ...having said that, though - if 'everyone' drove a Smart Car, we'd just have to avoid the truck lanes, and chain a bunch of us together in a high wind!

    I think they are designed for city driving. This type of car would be ideal to prototype alternate fuel (electric, fuel cells, etc.) because they are lightweight.

    Don't suppose anyone remembers its predecessor the 50s-60s Bubble car? Hugely popular at the time.
