I don't know what I would have been named if I would have been a boy. But my dad wanted to name me, for a girl, Kizzie. I'm serious ... Kizzie. Is that even a name??? My mother said, "Over my dead body!" so they fought and fought about it. One day my mom had gotten a box of apples to make apple butter with, and the brand on the side was "Shanna Valley Apples". My mom, angry, says, "How about Shanna?" and my dad, angrier, says, "Fine!" ... still hoping in his heart for Kizzie, I'm sure.

    Thank GOODNESS for apples!!!

I was set on the name Dylan for my son from the beginning, although I thought briefly about Dane.

If he would have been a girl, I was going to name him Logan.

Had my father had his way, my name would be Heidi. I am so not a Heidi! Instead, they decided to let my ticked off, "I don't want a sibling", 10 year old half brother name me. I don't have a middle name. My full first name is TamaraLyn, no hyphen, no space, yes that's a capital L and it's supposed to be one! I swear Lance stuck the capital L in the middle of my name just to make my life more difficult. I have had to produce my birth certificate on more than one occasion just to prove I know how to spell my own name! That is what happens when you let the angry boy name the sister he doesn't want(and still doesn't particularly like)

My younger sister's name is Patricia. Had she been a boy, she would have been Bart. *she was born long before the Simpsons. My Mom still loves that name!

I do not know if I was thought to be a boy. I think my mom was one of the folks who just like to be surprised.

If I had been born a boy... My first name would be Axel.

I was going to be Maureen, until my Mum read a book while she was expecting me about a baby, called Karen, born very prematurely, that still survived. She was inspired by the story and liked the name, so Karen I became.

I have always known plenty of Karen's, but it can't have been too common a name at the time, judging by my Dad's Mother's reaction of "Karen? What kind of a name is that?!"

Well, at least the nurse was helpful. When Helen (Bobcat's ex) gave birth to the twins, she was all drugged up because it had been a difficult, emergency delivery. The nurse asked her the babie's names. She said Ron and Robin. The nurse asked her how to spell Robin. Helen responded R-o b zzzzzzzzzz b-i-n (passed out for a moment during the spelling). The stupid nurse put Robbin on the birth certificate, so that's how it is to this day.

I was supposed to be "Alexander" right up until the time I was born! oops!

My sister didn't have a name at all when she was born, and my parents wound up naming her after the doctor who delivered her.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

If I was I boy I would have no name for the first few hours, they had none picked out. My mom says I'm named after the book legth poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and my dad says he read my name off a gravestone while taking pictures there and thought it was pretty!

I was going to be Joan Lynn. When my dad was visiting my mom in her hospital room after I was born he told her he had a better idea. He said "how about Pamela for her first name and Louise after your (my mom's) middle name. So I became Pamela Louise. I must admit there were many times through grade school that I wished I was Joan Lynn. Pamela was a very RARE name back then and I felt a little odd. It sort of grew on me as I got older, but I definitely prefer Pam.

I was planning to name my daughter Kelly. You all may know her (Christiansmommy) as Robyn. Right before her birth my hubby said that the name Kelly reminded him of a bar he passed (Kelly's Bar and Grill) and he wasn't really fond of it at all any more. One day I was watching Captain Noah with my son (it was a children's program in the Philadelphia area). Kids would send their drawings in to him and he would show them on the air and comment on them. One little girl, who sent in a drawing, was named Robin. I thought to myself....."I like that name." I presented it to hubby that night and he did too. We only changed the spelling a bit, changing the *I* to a *Y* and named her Robyn.

My mom wanted to name me Heidi, but my dad hated it and it didn't go at all with our last name. My mom gave up naming me and let my dad do it- he named me Kari. If I were born a boy I would have been Timothy.

My husband's parents had the hardest time naming their 3 kids. They had no names picked out for Justin until after he was born and they were asked what name was going on his birth certificate, they quickly picked the name Justin. With their second kid they decided on the name Melissa, they put it on the birth certificate and brought her home from the hospital- a few weeks later they decided to have her name changed to Lindsay. Lastly Justin's youngest sister came home with no name! Her birth certificate simply said "Baby Girl" as the name. It took them a little while before they finally decided to name her Diana.
