Ethan Paul (insert last name here) sounds very nice. It's a name that I can imagine easily as a baby or adult. Plus, it can't easily be shortened. Some people see this as a drawback, but my thought is why use a name if the only time they'll be called by it is when you are mad at them?

I totally agree with this. Alexander Paul sounds best. Ethan Paul is alright. Austin Paul? Not really.

Alexander gets my vote. Austin Paul sounds too much like Austin Powers to me.

we may not pick until the little guy's birthday... We're just not sure!!
Maybe Austin Alexander...? Tyler has my husband's middle name as his middle name so I s'pose we don't HAVE to give this next one my husband's first name as his middle name. Hmmm choices choices

Proof positive that the two names sound good together as brothers We were thinking of the name Austin long before I discovered somebody else on here also had a Tyler and an Austin.

I personally like Ethan best. The other two names or more commonly used. Living in Texas, I would associate Austin with the city. BUT, I think Alexander sounds better with Paul as a middle name than the other two.

My favorite combination of the names is Ethan Alexander.

Hmmmm.... Austin Paul, Ethan Paul, Alexander Paul. I think I like Alexander best ... I can hear them being introduced - these are my sons, Tyler and Alex - that just feels right to me.

i like alexander paul the best.......they just go soooo well together......being able to shorten the name is not a bad thing as so often the child would prefer one of the shortened versions as he grows older.....i have found that with some of my own children.......a little room for choice is good!

    Thanks to PCB!

My sentiment exactly. And it's not so common, yet kind of elegant if you know what I mean.

I personally like Ethan the best. (If you wanted a shorter, quicker way to say his name, just dropping the "an" works...pronounced like "eeth", but people won't automatically crop his name like they always do with names like Michael or Alexander.) And, honestly, it doesn't matter if every son on Pet Talk or anywhere has the same name as yours. They could all be Johns, and if you like John...then, that should be the name you go with. Names are common for a reason, because they're nice. I think all the names sound nice...I don't like Ethan Paul as much as I like Ethan Alexander, though. If you were going to switch the names around, instead of sticking with the middle name of Paul, that's my favorite. Regardless, though, I'm just excited to see photos and maybe even meet you one day!

Hee hee, that's what I thought too! Whatever you decide, I'm sure his name will be perfect anyway.

I voted Alexander, but I like Austin too. I've never heard "Ethan" before.

Hey, why don't you let Tyler decide? Would be cute!!

    I like Ethan the best.

I've never liked the name Austin- just a personal preference.

I like Alexander but not with your last name-- I don't think it flows well- especially as a middle name.

Have you considered using a middle name from your side of the family since you already have a name from hubby's side of the family??
