I just agreed to pick this little cutie up tomorrow. These aren't my pictures, but I'm sure many will follow.
A friend of mine is involved with Border Collie rescue. She pulled this little girl out of the local high kill pound just before her time was up. She looks very BC when her ears are down, very husky when they are up! She's likely about a fifty-fifty mix, but not quite enough to qualify for a breed specific rescue on either breed! She's about eight months old.
My friend is a softie like me and couldn't let her be put down just because she isn't a purebred. She ended up in the pound when she was picked up running loose. It was her second offense and her owners said they couldn't afford her bail (150$). The no-kill shelter is full to the rafters so there was no safe place for her to go. She's been calling me all week about her. She's a good mix for a sled dog, very active, very nice temperment. I met her a few days ago. The voice of reason, aka Stuart, said No, quite firmly. Until this afternoon when he met the dog. Then it became, "well, it's up to you.". Well, I need another dog like I need a hole in my head, but I was able to come up with several reasons to justify taking her!
Her current name is Patches, but I hate that already. I'm leaning towards Tehya. It means precious in Cherokee.
