Almost all of my pets were rescues I got through my previous job. We have a couple that we bought before I got that job though. We also have a few that came from friends or family.

Rita & Sadie are both from breeders, It was not my choice, though...
Hopefully our next dog will be a rescue.

All of our pets came from so many different places.

Frisk & Don were the only ones from a breeder.
All the rest are basically rescues, either gotten from friends, as strays, shelters, or from neglectful petstores.
Not everyone can be counted as rescues, though, as some came from pretty good care. =]

Cracker and Ginger were from a breeder, Selena (red tail boa) was a rescue of sorts from my brother, one guinea pig (Ruby) was a rescue, my RB beardie Dragon was a rescue, the second guinea pig, (Oreo) was from Petco (they only had males on petfinders in my area and I needed a second female for companionship, etc), and my rats were first bought for food for Selena but I couldn't feed the girls so I have four rats.

Thanks Jess for the great sig of my kids!

all of mine were from "free" adds in the paper, except Ginger. Ginger is my mom's dog that she inherited from her mother when she passed away from cancer in 2003. Miagi was found in some lady's basement and she couldn't keep him so she gave him to us and Tiger was found on the highway with another cat that were dumped and these nice people took them into foster them and couldn't keep them so they gave us a choice of Tiger or the other cat but brought out Tiger first and I fell in love and the rest is history. we do plan to adopt always and we have never ever bought any of our pets from breeders, except hamsters when I was younger.

Kai came from a breeder in BC. Kaedyn was adopted from the Vancouver Animal Shelter (I volunteer there). The Malinois pup will be coming from a breeder in California.

All of my birds except for Ozzie came from a Pet Store. Ozzie was from a breeder.

We adopted Beanie at a no-kill shelter.

I got Gracie from a sibe breeder in TN. She was a show dog until last Feb.

I bought Charlie from a breeder.

PiddyBob, my kitty, was a stray. She litterally ran to me hollering.
    Owned by two little pastries!

Two of my dogs were strays on the street. My dane, I got from a breeder. One of my cats came from a friend who had a litter. The two other cats I inherited when my grandmother died. Actually, they inherited me!

Cassie came to me from Harmony House for Cats, which is a cageless, no-kill, cats-only shelter in Chicago. My sister's RB cats both came to her from a relative, a veterinarian - they had been brought to his office after being found outdoors.

I voted friend, because in a round about way that is how we got Taz.
Zoee we got from a breeder, not a BYB though.
Although, since I have been on this site for the past few months...any future animal I get will definitely be from a shelter or rescue org.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!
