NO!! Because I would hate when someone else would do that with me! Also, it is wrong to sneak into someone elses private stuff...!

A while ago, my hubby tried to read my son's e-mails because he knew he was using drugs and wanted to find more proof. But as he didn't know the pass-word, he never got in . I didn't agree with this at all!!

No, never. I take the whole "do unto others" philosophy seriously.

Voted perhaps. Andy and I know each other's email passwords in case of an emergency and need to contact someone that's not in one or the other's address book.

    That sort of thing.

But if I found out someone's password by accident, I'd never just go in and check their mail without their knowledge.

It depends. I would never do that to any of my close friends, nor anyone on Pet Talk if I somehow got onto their e-mail. For people that I'm not too friendly with or people I suspect don't like me, yeah, probably. Parents and mortal enemies? DEFINITELY!!!

It depends on the situation. If you are a mother, and concerned about something, sure I'd check it, but dont ready every single email, just something that might be suspicious, and I would never do it behind there back.

My ex-boyfriend had my password for some odd reason and he told his best buddy it, and his buddy hated me, so he went on my msn and said some mean things to good friends of mine, and changed my screen name to an AWFUL name, which I cannot repeat...just shows the immaturity of some people.

No I would not. My children are both grownups now, I would never have
an occasion to even consider it.

yes I used to read my moms e-mails all the time(but with Elsie out of the picture there all boring now lol) I also deleted an e-mail that someone sent her that was about me, and would have got me in loads of trouble, I saw it before she did and got rid of it lol in my defence she knows I read her e-mail and she has another account I cant get into.

The old saying "do unto others as you would have them do to you" pops into my mind while reading this thread. I would be really hurt if I felt like someone couldn't or wouldn't come to me with concerns or criticisms or whatever-have-you; but would stoop to read my email to find out the skinny on what was going on in my life.

Now, if we are talking about CHILDREN, then I think it should be ALL out on the table at all times. But when my children become adults (over 18), are making their own decisions, and facing their own consequences, then snooping into their personal business is just SO wrong.

I snoop for a living! Well not really, I fix computers and can't help but see some of the stuff the clients have on their pcs. I'm far too busy with my own life to spend any time reading other peoples' mail.

*sigh* I am guilty of this. Unfortunately, while I was snooping I found out exactly what I was snooping for (my boyfriend had cheated on me) and I was shocked to find that I really would rather not have known. No more snooping for me, the finding is not worth it.

Depends. If I was being talked about or something, yes, but otherwise I respect people's privacy.

I just logged into my husband's email and the first thing I though of was this thread. I didn't have his permission, but I was looking for something specific and not snooping around reading his other emails. I just ordered a pizza online and I was checking for the conformation email which goes to his email. He was in the bathroom and I wanted to check it to make sure it went through.
