Drake thrives on car rides! I can't even spell ride or car around him anymore!

I have left Drake in the car several times, but never in temperatures that are so hot. He doesn't jump over the seats and I am always sure to park in a shady area and crack the windows open. i don't think anywould could steal him with out getting hurt.

I also wanted to mention that Kia loves a car ride. I can leave the windows rolled down all the way and she won't jump out. So far (knock on wood), she's never been teased. Either people give her wide berth (her eyes freak people out) or they compliment her.

I'll leave the window rolled down half way so she can stick her head out, but lock the doors while I run in to pay for gas.

If I have to run into a store where I can't take her, the window is rolled down enough so that she can stick her nose out the window.

If I start to go to the garage without the dogs then I feel guilty. They absolutely LOVE car rides. I take them every opportunity I have since it brings them such joy!

They only go if the weather is below 65 degrees and there is no hot direct sun. They each have their own spot in the car and get sooooo excited when they know we are going for a ride!!!

I take Bonnie quite often. I usually ask her if ahe wants to go and often she does. Only if we have had a really busy day of agility training or other active doings, she sometimes would rather stay home and take a nap. She seems to know if it will just be a ride to pick up my daughter from work, and back home; or if we tell her were going to the park--then of course whe is excited to go.

Now that it's getting warmer, she doesn't get to go along to the grocery or places she'll have to wait, but in the cool months, she seems to enjoy watching all the activity in a parking lot. We lock her up securely of course and bring her a treat. I even keep some emergency treats in the car in case we go someplace that doesn't have anything for her, like the hardware store.

I take Tiffany with me everywhere. Well pretty much everywhere. She's a 5-1/2 lb. Yorkie so I just put her in a bag and put it on my shoulder and nobody even knows I have a dog with me. She's very used to hopping into a bag. In the car I keep her in a small carrier because she's so small I don't want her flying all around the car an getting hurt.

Duncan goes almost everywhere with me. The store, the laundromat, visiting friends, errands. The only time I won't take him with me is if I know I will more than 30 minutes in a store. Which rarely happens! (I hate to shop!!) He is home alone so much during the day and I work my other job on the weekends also so I feel terrible if I have to leave again in the evenings to run errands and he is home alone.... It's hard because my car is so small and he doesn't always just stay in the back.. Every once in a while he will stand on the rest betwen the two seats and look out the front window. It makes it difficult sometimes, to say the least! But he is so spoiled. I will actually leave the car running for him when I go inside a store. I leave either the heat or the ac running with the windows cracked and lock the doors. I had a spare key made just for that reason! I don't think anyone could steal him, he wouldn't let them!

I used to work as a carry out at a grocery store and I'd see people leave INFANTS alone in a car on a hot day.

Children we'd report instantly. Dogs, it'd depend on the situation. I've seen windows rolled down part way with bowls of water in the car.... and some with the windows not even cracked at all....
