A friend of mine died today.

This afternoon my friend Jason passed away, he was only 27 years old. Jason was a hemophilliac, when he was young he had a recived a blood transfusion and contracted HIV. Jason spent most of his life living with this virus and he never let it get him down. He loved to make people laugh, and he always loved everyone he met. I went to the hospital as soon as I got the call, but he had passed away shortly after my friend Jack called me. His sister said he was making jokes and being silly until the very end. The nurse that was helping him helped his sister sneak his cat David into the room. David spent the night in the hospital last night making sure that Jason was comfortable as he was leaving us. Jason loved that cat so much, it was his baby.

Please pray for Jasons family. He left behind a mom and a sister, this has been a hard year for them as not only was a son/brother lost this year but a husband/father. I'd never heard anything more heartbreaking in my life then when I heard his mom crying. There must be no greater pain then to lose a child.

I know Jason is at peace now, he hasn't been well for the last two years. I think he's spent as much time in the hospital as he had at home. His pain and suffering is now over.

I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts. His funeral will be on Friday, it will be in Texas because that's where they grew up and that is where he wished to be burried. And as he wished he will also be burried with his newest baseball cap as Jason just wasn't Jason if he wasn't wearing a cap.

David da cat will be well taken care of, it hasn't been decided yet if he will stay with Jason's mom, the problem is that David does not like Tracy (his mom's cat). He might also go to live with Jason's older sister who lost her kitty last October to cancer.

Jason's obituary was in the paper today.


Jason Alan Bowles January 2, 1980 - June 10, 2006 26, born in Hahn, Germany. He was preceded in death by his father, MSgt. John D. Bowles. Jason is survived by his mother, Dalene; sister, Jerri Ann; grandmother, Bea Copeland and two aunts and one uncle living in Texas. Jason moved to Tucson in 1992. He received his diploma from Palo Verde High School in 1998, where he grew very fond of photography. Jason was by far the strongest, most courageous young man anyone could ever know. He was faced with unimaginable hurdles in life. He passed on Saturday, after fighting a fearless battle of ill health. Our hearts go out to the doctors and medical staff of UMC.
