He's really sweet. I'm thinking about the names... very difficult indeed. Cutetins ... ??? I'd actually chose the name you'll call him first and then add something to make it more "noble" or funny.

I hope you're aware that the Australian Curl cat is extinct? I can't find a single picture of them, since they only existed in Australia for at most a year.

I'm getting it from www.blood-horse.com and http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/horse/index I'm a huge fan of Barbaro, he was truly impressive horse, which I haven't seen run in years.

Do you want to put up a different breed?

I *THINK* this is a Bohemian Rex, the words were in German, but it popped up with this picture on the website. I might be mistaken though, but it's all I can find, seeing as that this breed is also extinct.

Your horses are GORGEOUS!! I'm so jealous! LOL

I'm actually looking to buy a horse soon, I just need to find a place to board it. I grew up with horses, cattle, dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, etc and I miss the horses & cattle. I want to move to the country & start to build a ranch, but unfortunately, right now that isn't possible, due to finances. Maybe after I'm at this job awhile.

My first horse was an Arabian, he was gorgeous and had an excellent pedigree. Unfortunately, my Dad thought he was too "dangerous" for me, so he sold it and bought me an insane Quarter Horse. That horse was dangerous, bucked me off more times that I can count, knocked me unconscious once for about a half hour.

Can I see an Alpine Lynx next please?

My son came up with our cattery name years ago when bred himalayans and persians. Cutetins is short for cute kittens... he always called them cutetins for short. With the selkirks, I usually incorporate some form of curl or wave into the name if they are standard curly kittens... the straight coated babies are easier to name since I can call them pretty much anything.

I can understand your love of the siberian. I had two of them a few years ago. Darcy was a brown torbie and her sister was a red. I got them from a breeder in PA when I was still living there. The red girl had a heart problem and passed on and Darcy was so jeolous of the other cats that she would literally pee on me while I slept... so we found her a home with an older gentleman that could be devoted to just her. She is doing very well there as an only pet and companion to a retired man that adores her.

I've never seen a bohemian rex, but that cat definitely has some persian in it's ancestry... I wonder what breeds were used to create this hybrid?

Persian was one of them, from what I gathered during my reading. IIRC, it was Persian and some kind of rex or rex relative.

I don't read Geman, but I thought I cought the words Cornish Rex in the text... so it could have been that was the other breed. Considering the difference in the two breeds (type-wise), I can't imagine that it would be an easy hybrid to work with. They strongly resemble some of the more extreme selkirk rexes that I've seen.

@Selkirk: I'm even more fascinated by Neva Masquarades than by the non-pointed Siberians. The great thing is that as a breeder of Siberians you can have all existing colours, even colourpoint. But well, I love so many breeds... My favs remain Bengal, Birman and Tiffanie.

@Ohmycats: I just visited your website and you have ABSOLUTELY gorgeous cats, really!! I knew some "helmi" pics before and I'm still admiring your beautiful cats. You chose 3 great breeds. When saying "Highlander", do you mean "Highland Lynx"? Because in Europe, a "Highlander" is a British Longhair.

It seems that I was wrong:

Alpine Lynx will come in one color only - solid white. Alpine Lynx may be curled eared or straight eared, but curled ears are preferred. They may be long or short haired, but long hair is preferred. Polydactyl feet are preferred.

Xaja, here are a few pics of Barbaro, he seems to be in good spirits judging by this first picture. I put them as attachments since they are so huge!

No problem, it's a long weekend here so we've been out today and might go out tomorrow too. Basically I've been enjoying sleeping in.

Barbaro is a gorgeous horse. I think someone forgot to tell him that his injuries were life threatening. He sure seems to be bouncing back from them beautifully. Here's the site that I got them from:

They have x-rays of the leg before & after surgery. A week later and it's still just so unbelievable. I mean we were watching the race and saw it happen, but it just is so .... unbelievable.
