Never read that book but it sounds good.

Ummm, I would get very tired I suppose. I'd probably dig a big tunnel and lay in it in midday, as it is cooler under the sand

First I'd just make sure my cat was alright. I'd tell my friend not to worry, and we'd just keep them apart from then on.
