some days I'm treated
to the greatest show on earth
watching my cat play

An Olympic cat
The balance beam, sprints measured
in rooms, not feet

On your mark, get set…
a crouch explodes into speed
room to room to room

Finish line in sight
across the line, breaking tape
a world class time

A marathon scratch???
walking cat rear, balance-walks
across the sofa back

A long jump across
from arm chair to bed mattress
what extension, form!

a rhythmic gymnast
a stretching leg, an arched back-
a judge's score here?

I can judge my cat
on ability and grace
and his love for me

but in one event
my cat wins a gold medal
is napping a sport?

asleep and warm on my bed.

game of body parts.

Ed always goes first,

I am awake now!

Why is my cat so heavy?
Cat whiskers in face.

All paws on ribs now.
One half circle all paws move.
What a game this is!

Heavy cat body!
Lie down on human's rib cage
ED? CAN I MOVE NOW?

I lost at this game.
Only a cat can play this-
Me? I need my sleep!

paper to fight with, boxes
to climb all over.

I do sleep better
snuggled up in dad's armpit
He doesn't smell bad.

He showers often
And uses baby powder
My dad smells the best.

Ears


My early warning
turning on top of my head-
I always listen

My eyes can fool you
I look like I am dozing-
But I am alert.

You walk all about-
the clumsy Human you are.
I know where you move.

Watch my ears next time
Nature's sonar, listening
I 'see' with my ears.

neighbor's silly dogs' barking
I sigh and sleep on.

Right ear on south east
stuff out of the dishwasher
mind my own business

all ears in front now
my brother gets temptations
all systems alert!!!

Paws and Claws

My pink little toes
'Frito feet' to some of you
Five little piggies.

I can use my feet
like a pro soccer player
I dribble with ease

A goalie's worst fear
Foil balls shot at the goal net
or under the stove

My razor claws can
defend me or open your skin
when you play too rough

Small retractable
switch blades, under my control
Or out of control

I can climb up trees
or the screen door of your house
See those white curtains???

And most of the time
My claws and paws take me to
where I find trouble!

Let's me contort into shapes
