Crap! I was so hoping he'd be back by now too!! Argh... I know how it feels, when one of the pack is missing, it's just not the same!!

Have you tried taking the team out in the area? I had one of my guys, Rupert, get loose not long after I got him from another musher and he was gone for 3-4 days or so. No sign of him, nothing. I also suspected he came by during the night, but got scared off (by the bratty females who picked on him). I was really thinking he'd never come back, but sure enough - my neighbors took out their team one day and came back with a Rupert! He came bounding out of the bushes when he saw them and ran alongside them for a while. They knew I was missing a dog, so they put him in the team and he happily ran home with them.

Oh, also - those bushes were right behind my cabin!!!!!

So - he was super close the whole time and just wouldn't come near. Didn't matter how much I called and wandered around. And he wasn't even *that* shy, so I can imagine what Delta feels like. They can travel far quickly, but instinct keeps them close to "their pack" I think.

Good luck - if you need extra bodies going out looking, let me know for sure.

    Hey Mountain Chick ~

Dunno if Tamara or Stuart will "ask" for extra help ...

But showing up and just offering to help search
would sure be a neighborly thing to do!

Some of us would be there in a heartbeat ...
but Ohio to the Yukon may take a day or two.

If you're close enough to help ... we'll ALL say THANKS!!

Stayed at a friends house last night and the first thing I did when I got back is check this thread, I was so hoping for some good news.

Echo others - Glacier, have you tried taking the team out? Or taking Antare to search with you?

Continued prayers from all of us here.

Lots of positive thoughts being sent from South Hero VT

Glacier, I hope you find your wayward pup. Remember, he left your home and that you didn't neglect him...... It was his choice to get out and then bolt. I guess instincts are more powerful than common sense for some dogs. Mother Nature can create strange circumstances, for sure.

From the looks of all of your wonderful photos, there is way too much land to scour thoroughly, looking for your Delta and that luck may play an important role in finding him.

I, too, thought about doing the sled team trips to attract Delta, but I am sure you have already thought of that.

I hope you are getting some sleep and your eyes recover. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes right now. You are such a wonderful cat and dog MOM, and it breaks my heart to hear you suffering so.

We are all hoping for a positive conclusion for you and Delta.

    Thanks everyone.

I have taken a team out looking for him and I'm heading out again. Delta isn't a sled dog, but seeing his buddies might get his attention. Or maybe he can follow their scent home. I've taken Heyoka out for several walks. Delta spends a lot of with Heyoka. I've taken Antare too. Antare is coming in the team today too.

I've called every musher around here, even the ones I don't actually know. One of them is leaving the gate to his dog yard open at night, just in case Delta goes in there. His yard is not far off the trail we run quite often.

I've searched every inch of this property--every shed, every car, every little dang thing he could possibly hide under. He's not on the property. We've figured out how he got out anyway. The driveway gate was pushed just a tiny bit open. Ozzy was apparently loose too, but a neighbor who knows him put him back in the yard before we got home. Gates have since been rebuilt so there is no way to move them at all.

Thanks for the offer to help look, mtn_chick. I'll let you know!

We have a friend who is an animal communicator. It sounds nutty, but she's been trying to talk to Delta. She's done some Tellington Touch work with him so she knows him a little. She believes he's still alive, not particularly far away. She kept getting images of a large open space so we've been to the two local golf courses. One of them keeps a dog team on the premises. They are on the look-out for him too. The other one is closed for the winter and there was nothing but moose tracks on it.

I'm going to run the team through a cleared area today. It's also the last trail Hoodoo ever ran with us and today is the anniversary of his death--not the exact date, but he died on the Sunday of our local winter festival. I always run that trail today.
