    Grandma Boxer

I came across this today on Google while doing a search on old dog photos. I was looking for old as in past years but a pic of this dog came up and when I clicked on it, so did her story. It's kind of bittersweet.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

AWWW, Bittersweet, is right, in more ways then one, for me.

Brought a tear to my eye. That story is so much like Nilla's story, except that Nilla is still with me. They both are Boxer's too, even more of a tug on my heart.

This was Nilla shortly after we got her, a old gray lady, with all the problems that come with age. She also has cancer and was given only a few weeks to live. That was almost 2 years ago.

So that story touched me on more levels then you know. Now I must go in the other and give Nilla a big hug and kiss. Remembering how lucky we both are that we came into each others lives.

Val, What a wonderful touching story, one that made me shed tears, yet laugh happily.
I am gladded you shared this, like the story said to "that somehow I've inspired someone somewhere to at least consider adding an old, ill, or otherwise less adoptable dog to their home."
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

Thanks for posting this. It was a very touching story. It makes the heart smile for thinking that she got to spend her last days with fur and human companions alike...i hope to be able to offer a second chance to an old dog someday...
