    Moose in the yard

    At about 11:00 this morning, a young moose wandered into the yard to snoop around and take a siesta. Thought I share some photos. Sorry if they are too dark. The sun hadn't come up when he decided to take a nap. Pepper is monitoring the situation from the upstairs window and Halo is watching from downstairs.






    Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.

    It looks like your yard in fenced...any idea how he got in?

    I was too slow to get a photo of it, but he just lifted his front hooves and jumped over without any problem! The side fence is 6 feet, but the back fence is about 5 feet. He came over the back fence. He walked the higher fence for a while like he was looking for a way over, but he didn't even attempt it. He's still there chewing his cud. Been almost 2 hours now.

    Mr. Moose jumped the fence again (after leaving behind some "nuggets" for us to use as fertilizer) He left a little after 3:00 p.m. when the school bus came by and scared him. He wandered off into the 40-acre swamp behind our yard and was last seen chewing on a birch branch.

    I've always wanted to see a moose! There's tons of them in Maine, but I've yet to see one...*sigh* someday! Great pictures, thanks for sharing them with us!
